How do you choose a wedding photographer when they all have pretty photos?
The first thing you see when you inquire with a photographer is usually their work, their beautiful, carefully curated Instagram feed and all the gorgeous weddings they've photographed.
And yes, loving their work is important.
But after the pretty portfolio, there's something else you should pay attention to: the experience they offer along with those pretty photos.
Ask yourself:
“Can I imagine myself feeling comfortable with this person on my wedding day?”
Because two photographers can have beautiful work and still give you completely different experiences.
Your photographer might be the person who simply shows up, takes the photos, and heads home.
Or they might be the person who walks in ready to hype you up, fixes your dress when it needs adjusting, reminds you to drink some water after being outside in the Texas heat, helps keep things moving when the timeline gets a little chaotic.
They'll know the moments you've told them are important to you and they'll be paying attention when the day inevitably gets a little messy or runs behind.
Your wedding photographer isn't just someone holding a camera.
They're with you through the quiet getting-ready moments, the nerves, the happy tears, the portraits, the hugs, the dance floor, and eventually that final send-off.
So yes, love their photos.
But also ask yourself:
Do I like their vibe? Do I trust them?
Would I feel comfortable with them beside me on one of the biggest days of my life?
Pretty photos are important.
But the experience you have getting them matters, too. 🤍
