I know it’s been a little quiet on my grid lately…

Life behind the scenes has been a whirlwind of moving boxes, packing tape, and adjusting to a brand new chapter! But just because I’ve been a bit MIA on social media doesn't mean the camera has been dusty. I’ve been actively shooting, editing, and delivering some absolutely incredible galleries to my amazing clients!

Case in point: this session right here.
I got to catch up with one of my absolute favorite ranching families from right here in South Texas. Every single time they step in front of my lens, they bring the absolute best energy, wholesomeness, and that true, authentic South Texas ranch spirit.

This time around, we even got to include the Brahman cattle, and let me tell you—they absolutely stole the show!

Here are a few of my absolute favorite moments from our evening on the ranch. Grab some coffee (or sweet tea) and swipe through to see the magic!

Booking Update: Galleries are flying out the door, and while my schedule is adjusting to the new move, I am still taking on select sessions! Drop a comment or send a DM to secure your spot on the calendar.

Once in a Blue Moon... literally.

I couldn't resist staying up to capture the magic of the rare celestial event: the Full Blue Moon of May 2026.

Because May kicked off with the Full Flower Moon back on the 1st, then May 31st gave us a spectacular second full moon in a single calendar month—making it a true calendar "Blue Moon." To make things even more fascinating, this one was also a Micromoon, reaching its peak illumination just as it hit apogee (the point in its orbit farthest from Earth). It might have appeared a tiny bit smaller and dimmer to the naked eye, but through the lens, its crisp, quiet energy was absolutely mesmerizing.

Beyond the modern "Blue Moon" label, May's moon cycles carry incredibly rich history and alternative names rooted in the natural world:
The Flower Moon / Month of Flowers (Algonquin & Dakota) – Honoring the abundant spring blooms bursting to life.

The Frog Moon (Cree) – Named for the loud, rhythmic chorus of spring peeper frogs welcoming the warmer nights.

The Milk Moon (Old English/Celtic) – Marking the medieval time when cows returned to rich summer pastures to nourish their calves.

The Moon of the Shedding Ponies (Oglala) – A beautiful nod to the seasonal shifts in livestock and wildlife.

Spiritually, a Blue Moon acts as an energetic "checkpoint" or a cosmic pause button. While a regular full moon is a time for celebration and manifestation, a rare Blue Moon is widely viewed as a powerful phase for deep emotional release, clearing out stagnant energy, and closing old chapters. It’s the universe giving us a gentle nudge to sit still, break old patterns, and shed the heavy "stuff" we've been carrying before stepping into the heat of summer.

Plot twist: A family session, but make it an ENGAGEMENT!

I thought we were just capturing some sweet family memories in these gorgeous yellow flowers with Jamie, Jacob, and little Kinley. Turns out, Jacob had a much bigger plan!

Jacob had planned the sweetest surprise proposal—and yes, she said YES!

Congratulations to this beautiful little family on their next chapter!

Think timeless vintage movie star meets breathtaking ballet poise—all wrapped up in a personality that is completely, beautifully, and unapologetically her own. From dramatic, elegant poses that look like they stepped right off a classic film set to those fun, quirky moments that show off her true spirit, this session was an absolute dream from start to finish. The talent, individuality, and bright energy shine through in every single frame.

There are places that hold memories, and then there are places that hold souls. For Laney’s senior session, we didn’t just pick a location with good light—we went back to the very beginning. Walking through these fields, you can feel the weight of the legacy she is carrying forward as she prepares for her next big chapter.

In the 1850s, Laney’s ancestors arrived from Germany and planted their roots deep into this soil. For nearly 175 years, this land has seen seasons of change, hard work, and new life. To stand here today and capture the youngest generation of that legacy felt like a bridge between the past and the future.

As Laney prepares to step out into the world, she does so with the strength of several generations beneath her feet. It was a true honor to document this milestone in the place where her family’s American dream first took root.

Laney, may you always be as grounded as these fields and as bold as those who came before you.

Meet Chloe, a brilliant and talented senior from James Madison High School!

Not only is she incredibly smart and driven, but she has also been an active leader in her FFA chapter throughout her high school career. It was such a joy to capture her personality and celebrate all the hard work she’s put into her journey so far.

Next stop? Lubbock! Chloe is officially headed to Texas Tech University to join the Red Raider family. We have no doubt she’s going to do big things out West.

Congratulations, Chloe! Wreck 'em! ❤️🖤

It was such a treat to have Jenna venture up from George West for a change of scenery at The Pearl in San Antonio. Many of you might recognize this familiar face—whether it was from her previous livestock sessions or seeing her dominate the livestock arena with her steer and lambs.

Jenna is a force to be reckoned with! Not only is she an incredibly talented showman, but she’s also representing her home as this year’s Live Oak County Queen.

Watching her navigate this session with the same confidence she shows in the ring was a highlight of my week. No matter where her path leads next, there is no doubt she is going to be wildly successful. Congratulations on your senior year, Jenna!

There’s something magical about the intersection of grit and grace.

This is a shoot idea that I have had in my head for a while now and I am so glad the stunning Jassy was able to give me this incredible opportunity to capture her against the vibrant, ever-changing backdrop of San Antonio’s iconic graffiti walls. Seeing the fluid, disciplined lines of a ballerina meet the raw, explosive energy of local street art was a total vibe.

San Antonio’s soul is painted on these walls, and Jassy brought them to life in a way I’ve never seen before. From the bold colors of the Hoefgen Street Wall to the hidden gem of Essex Modern City, every shot tells a story of contrast and strength.

Better late than never...

From The Old Farmers Almanac "The Flower Moon

May’s Flower Moon name should be no surprise; flowers spring forth across North America in abundance this month!

“Flower Moon” has been attributed to Algonquin peoples, as confirmed by Christina Ruddy of The Algonquin Way Cultural Centre in Pikwakanagan, Ontario.

May’s Moon was also called the “Month of Flowers” by Jonathan Carver in his 1798 publication, Travels Through the Interior Parts of North America: 1766, 1767, 1768 (pp. 250-252), as a likely Dakota name. Carver stayed with the Naudowessie (Dakota) over a period of time; his expedition covered the Great Lakes region, including the Wisconsin and Minnesota areas.

Henry David Thoreau sparked the Native American Moon names as well, referencing the Flower Moon and Carver when he wrote about Native Americans.

Alternative May Moon Names

May’s Moon names tend to speak to the arrival of spring and all that it entails!

The Cree names Budding Moon and Leaf Budding Moon celebrate the awakening of local flora, which really begins to leaf out now in many areas. Similarly, Planting Moon (Dakota, Lakota) marks the time when seeds should be started for the farming season ahead.

The activities of animals marked spring’s arrival, too, which is highlighted by the Cree names Egg Laying Moon and Frog Moon, as well as the Oglala term Moon of the Shedding Ponies. All three names indicate that warmer weather is on the way!"

I first met Haven when she were sitting in my 8th-grade science class, and now, here we are capturing their senior portraits. There’s nothing quite like the "full circle" moment of watching a former student grow into such a kind, talented, and driven young adult.

We had the best time exploring the San Antonio Riverwalk for this session. The city was glowing, but Haven’s future is definitely brighter!

Haven, thank you for letting me capture this milestone. You’ve come a long way since the 8th grade, and I can’t wait to see where you go next!
