i came across this quote on Pinterest the other day that was reposted by & it sunk deep for me in this season of motherhood. I’ve heard friends talk about the glamorization of motherhood and how sometimes it can lead mamas into a bit of isolation, feeling like they’re the only one who constantly falls short.
Mothering littles is hard but holy work. And THANK YOU JESUS that we get to yoke ourselves to him through the good & the bad. At first I found it hard to confide in Jesus when mothering felt hard. It felt like he wouldn’t be able to relate to my struggles in shepherding a little soul and trying to raise a baby in godliness. But then when I set aside my pride, I realized Jesus absolutely knows what it’s like to have to exercise constant patience, extending grace when it’s not deserved, and giving himself up every moment of the day for another. And that just makes me weep. What a beautiful, perfect partner & incredible gift we have in Jesus to navigate parenthood with. Scripture is RICH in how to parent & disciple young children, and something I’m realizing lately is it’s often still counter-cultural to what we hear in the common “parenting advice” books & podcasts.
I hope this serves as a little reminder to you, just as it did to me, that we will fall short every day of being the parent we desire to be. But thankfully, our babies are in the Lord’s hands and He cares for and watches over our children perfectly.
