Today marks the twins’ second birthday, and truthfully I’m really upset about it. ⠀
⠀
Last year, I had to plan a double birthday party all on my own because Sam was at basic training, and this year we’re in quarantine. I’d love to have a NORMAL birthday for the kids, but I guess we don’t exactly do things “normal” around here, do we?⠀
⠀
Tonight we’re going to give the kids some cake, take a photo or two, and keep the party on pause for close to another month. Until then, the birthday banners and Mickey Mouse decorations will have to just sit in a box.⠀
⠀
Corona brides, I empathize with you, as this time as taken so much away from us too. Let’s have that mini celebration now, and party hard when this is all over. @ San Antonio, Texas

It’s week 6 of quarantine here at my house, and I’ll tell you what. Wanting to shoot weddings and not being able to is like having an itch you can’t scratch. Being a creative that relies solely on the presence of others is my dream job and passion. I’ve seen some others vendors take this time to introduce themselves to new faces & I think I’ll follow suit. ⠀

I’m Amber! I’m the face behind all that you see. No editors, copy writers, or digital assistants here. I grew interested in photography as a kid at my sister’s wedding; the photographer even let me follow her around all day to see just how she does it! ⠀
⠀
Holding on to that experience, I knew I had to get my hands on a camera! I learned on film, and oh man was that an experience. Nothing was more defeating than getting back photos I took of my friends to see they had been ruined by my thumb or were far far too dark to even make out. ⠀
⠀
I applied to Watkins College of Art by suggestion of a regular I had when I was a waitress (working graveyard shift at the good ol’ Waffle House), and went on to achieve my BFA in Fine Art Photography. ⠀

Now I’m 6 years into the industry as a fine art wedding photographer. I shoot both digital and analog film interchangeably, and love spending my weekends capturing memories.

Okay, I’m going to get a little art school on you, but...the repetition of the gold against the black which mimics the suit and the white florals that match the bride, just ahhhh! So much thought and effort went in to creating such elegance that ties in colors from the rest of the wedding. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

This has been such a scary and unnerving past few weeks, as I’m sure it’s been for all of you that may have had to reschedule. ⠀
⠀
It’s easy to think about all that is wrong, all that could go wrong, and how much you’d like for things to go back to normal. I’m trying very (very!) hard to stay positive and think about all that I do have and have accomplished since the quarantine. ⠀
⠀
I’ve made gallons upon gallons of soup! Italian wedding, creamy chicken, white bean and kale, you name it. I’ve boiled down some homemade veggie stock from all my scraps and baked enough homemade bread to freeze. ⠀
⠀
I also learned that you can freeze eggs to make them last longer (crack & scramble, freeze in a muffin tin or ice cube tray, then transfer to a freezer bag) and looked up how to make butter from scratch since we’re running so low. ⠀
⠀
I encourage you to appreciate the little things, revel in the small victories, and let the overwhelming thoughts subside if possible. This too shall pass.
