This is an Olive Sparrow. There are over 30 species of native and introduced sparrows regularly occurring or breeding in Texas. However, when taking into account rare vagrants and accidental visitors, the total variety spotted across the state approaches 40 different species.

The Western Kingbird is a territorial bird often seen on fencelines and in trees, catching insects in flight, and are known for their aggressive defense of territory, including chasing away hawks. They migrate to Central America for the winter. They're here in South Central Texas in fairly large numbers. They'll be here through the end of September. Few will fly south in early October.
