I’m so excited to be able to share the installment of my first round of 40”x53” canvas portraits at TEAMability, Inc.’s new facilities at the MAC! This project has been in progress for the majority of 2022 and it is so rewarding to see the results! I received an email from Barbara, the CEO of TEAMability, this morning and she said “The beautiful photographs and the love and joy they radiate have changed the entire atmosphere – it is now warmer, welcoming and joyful. You have captured who we are, the essence of TEAMability.” This kind or review is exactly why I do what I do, and I couldn’t be happier 💖

A huge thank you to FinerWorks.com for providing the canvases and Portrait Profits for helping me get them installed and looking gorgeous!

I had a very exciting meeting today and my friend Sasi's face pretty much captures how I'm feeling inside! I will share more details as things develop, but BIG things are happening and I couldn't be more jazzed about it 🥳🎉

Hi friends! I'm back! 2021 was one heck of a year and it took a lot of work and healing to get to a new normal. Something that I realized during this break is that I was getting really burnt out the way I was handling social media before. I thrive on human interaction and social media was eating up all the time I would have otherwise given to making connections in the disability community. I would like to get back to social media being something I enjoy rather than dread, and because of this I will not have a specific posting schedule moving forward. I will be posting to my stories more, posting to my main feeds when I have fun things to share, and having fun making videos for Reels and Tiktok!

If you would like to help me ensure that my posts make it to your feed, here are a few ways to do that:
1) add my page as one of your favorites! ⭐️
2) Turn on post notifications for my page so you don't miss anything ❗️
3) React, comment on, and share any posts you do see. Even commenting an emoji goes a long way! 💖
4) Share my work and talk about my mission with your friends on and off social media! 🗣

I am so excited to be back in business! I have some big things planned for the Spring that I can’t wait to share! To clients and potential clients who fell through the cracks in 2021, please expect me to reach out in the next few weeks to chat about how I can make it up to you. Thank you all for your support and patience in my time of grief. Stay tuned for more updates! 😘💖

I wanna talk about something very important to me for a moment. People keep asking “what can I do for you” or “how can I help you in this time?” And honestly, aside from just prayers and providing meals, there’s only been one thing on my mind when people ask. My plan on Monday was to start daily posts about my friends at Young Life Capernaum and their art they’e made for a virtual fundraiser we are running all through this week. This fundraiser will end with an online Talent Show next Tuesday in the form of a video I was hired to edit. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help send kiddos like my best friend Katie to camp. This past year has been difficult and isolating, especially for the disability community, and this will allow us to take dozens of our friends out of their homes and surrounded by friends to learn about Jesus for an entire week. If it tells you *anything* about how passionate I am about this, I have continued to work on this project behind the scenes this week despite everything going on.

So what is that thing that I keep wanting to ask? Help us make this fundraiser a success. Share San Antonio Young Life Capernaum’s posts about the event. Watch our completely free and ONLY 20 minutes long Talent Show on Tuesday May 25th at 7PM CST and pump up our friends who will also be watching in the comments. If you feel lead, bid on our friends art or make a $5 donation to the general camp fund at YLArtAndTalent.com (going on now through May 25th). My dad loved and supported this event every year for the last four years. When I thought about passing off my responsibilities for this event or not saying anything here, all I could hear in my head was his voice saying “No, that’s stupid, this is important and you can’t let this stop because of me.” So I didn’t let it stop 💖 Of every support option I listed, I think the most important one is attending the online event live and encouraging our friends in the comments 🙂 Thank you all in advance for your support 💖

I am too tired and my heart is too heavy to type additional words, so I’ll share what I said on my personal page. I’ll be back, but I don’t know when.
______

My brain cannot fathom that I am writing these words. We got a call yesterday morning that my dad’s heart stopped and they were unable to revive him. We are hurting. We are shocked. We thought we had more time. But God knew that today was the day he would go home to heaven. We don’t understand why this is happening. But we trust God and His sovereignty and we know that my dad is no longer suffering. I am grateful that the last words he said to me were “I love you kid.” We don’t know what we need right now, but we will let you all know as we do. Please pray for our family.

—————
We do ask that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to VisionWorks to help us continue my dad’s passion of bringing joy to children with cancer. If you do feel the need to send flowers, my mom requests plants that will last rather than cut flowers. But she does prefer you make a donation.

Sometimes it takes looking back at my portraits in post-processing to see the potential of a particular image. AND THEN 😍 there are moments like tonight with this portrait of Socorro and Robert, where the second my finger presses the shutter button I KNOW magic has been made ✨
Even this unedited phone photo of my tiny screen on my camera makes my heart sing! I cannot wait to do full artwork on this one 🥰

I was with my dad at the hospital today and realized too late as I was walking out the door that I wasn’t wearing a purple shirt for Fibromyalgia Awarness Day! I was luckily in my office when I realized this, so I grabbed my purple Hey I’m Human bracelet and my purple mask. I support this day for my friend Liz, the genius behind Whiffahugs. She battles pain all day every day, and yet she continues to run an amazing business that is focused on helping others! My friendship with Liz has helped broaden my own perspective and has lead me to realize that not all disabilities are easy to see. If someone tells you they’re hurting, believe them. If you’ve never experienced something someone is describing *believe them*. There are so many who face unnecessary stigma and hardship because they are not believed. Let’s all be better! 🦋💜

(PS it’s not only Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, but also Whiffahugs 5 year business anniversary! You should totally go congratulate them and follow them while you’re there! 😉)

Time for the post I meant to give y’all Wednesday. As you can probably already tell, posts from me may be a bit spotty for a while, especially this week.

My dad and I share a genetic disorder called Lynch Syndrome. This syndrome makes those who have it more susceptible to developing cancers of all types. Since 2013 my dad has had colon, kidney, eyelid, and small bowel cancer, as well as numerous skin cancers. About a month ago, he had a very short seizure-like episode that alerted us to his most recent cancer. He has been diagnosed with a malignant brain cancer called glioblastoma.

As y’all can imagine, this has been incredibly difficult in light of the recent loss of my father in law, Steve. We have often found ourselves asking God when the heartbreak will end. But we ultimately know that God is good and that our hope is not in this life here on Earth, but in an eternal life in Heaven.

With all of that being said, there is earthly hope in the fact that we have caught this cancer so early and we have found an amazing care team. My dad is scheduled to have surgery TOMORROW, Monday, May 3rd, and in about a month will begin chemo and radiation. On top of all of this he has two blocked arteries in his hand that will have to be surgically repaired on Thursday May 6th. Please pray for us during this time, and pray for my parents this week as they navigate two surgeries at two different hospitals. Thank you for your constant support, I love you all💖
