I cried after a session recently.
Not because of the photos. Not because something bad happened. Not because of something the client did.
I cried because as my client was packing her bag after her session she said:
“I didn’t know I wasn’t ugly until I did a session with you.”
That sentence has lived in my head ever since.
The truth is, I don’t see my job as just taking pictures. Every day I meet women who have spent years picking themselves apart in the mirror. Women who have convinced themselves they’re too much, not enough, too big, too old, too awkward, too flawed.
Then I get to show them what everyone else sees. Not a filtered version. Not a "different person". Just them.
Beautiful. Worthy. Powerful.
Hearing someone realize, maybe for the first time, that they were never ugly in the first place hit me harder than I expected. Nobody should have to spend years believing they aren’t enough.
If my camera can help even one woman see herself with a little more kindness, then every late night, every ounce of effort, and every challenge of running this business is worth it.
To every woman reading this: the things you criticize about yourself are often the very things that make you beautiful. Sometimes you just need the chance to see yourself through a different lens.
