E+J's wedding in New York City.
The past few weeks have been packed with wedding work, and our daughter Lily just returned home from the UK after finishing her studies for now. I’m a bit late sharing this, but just two weeks ago, I photographed Estee and Joel’s wedding at The Metropolitan Club on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. A practical guide to working with a documentary wedding photographer: how I capture real moments, when I get involved, and how couples can relax and enjoy their day.

I love this image for its layering and the many levels within the frame. Sandy and Steve are being serenaded by mariachis at the Omni La Mansión del Río in San Antonio, and something is unfolding across the scene. The musicians frame the couple on both sides, while figures under the arches in the background add another layer of depth and context. In the center, Steve lifts Sandy’s hand as they move together, giving the moment energy and grace. The wide 21mm perspective from the Leica M11 lets the whole scene breathe and emphasizes the depth, making the image feel immersive and full of life.

Four frames from San Antonio, captured late last April when Pope Francis died — a mannequin behind glass, a worker bent into the street, two men divided by shadow, and a quiet procession in white moving on.

Shot on a Leica M11 + 28 Elmarit.

Lately, I’ve realized my camera choice depends less on specs or features and more on one thing: connection. I keep returning to the Leica M because it offers a unique, natural bond that makes the camera feel like an extension of myself. That sense of connection matters most. My thoughts here:

A personal essay on why I returned to the Leica M11 and M10-R after using the Leica SL3-S—covering rangefinder shooting, manual focus, lighter bodies, and lenses with character.

No flash, no posing — just a real moment in the middle of the dance floor. I loved how everything around them turned into noise, and all that mattered was the pull-in, the hands, the dress, the closeness.
This was shot on a Leica M10 with the Noctilux 50mm f/0.95, wide open in the available light. I stayed tight and shot through the crowd so the room could blur out and frame them naturally. I grabbed focus on the strap/lace with the rangefinder, waited for that split second when they settled into each other, and pressed the shutter — simple as that. Black and white to keep it clean and let the mood speak for itself.
