This is our first gallery show! ☺️
Formed in Darkness aims to reveal the depth of work that emerges when made slowly, by hand, and in the dark.
Submissions are free and open to everyone - but all work must be printed at The Red Room. (Printed using an enlarger).
Want to submit but never printed with us, or never printed at all? You’re welcome here- just sign up for a printing session or demo through our website.
Email your submission to [email protected] with the subject line
“Formed in Darkness Submission.”
A simple phone photo of your print is enough for review.
Only your original physical print(s) will be shown. Digital files will not be accepted. Submission deadline: Feb 10th. The exhibition will take place at the night of February 21st.

It’s been one year that we’ve been open!
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported this little space 🥹 we have been so grateful for the community this has brought us and we love to see what everyone comes in and creates, it’s been so inspiring. We appreciate everyone who has come to our workshops, or just come in and printed or have passed our name around. Here’s to a great year and more to come! Truly blessed to be here ❤️❤️❤️ it’s a dream come true.

Excited to have Josh Rose who will be teaching this workshop!

Josh Rose is an artist, photographer, and printer originally from Twin Falls, Idaho. He received his art education at Utah Valley University where he discovered his passion for historic and alternative photographic processes. He currently works at Utah Valley University running the photography labs and mentoring students with a variety of printing and photographic techniques. When he’s not photographing he enjoys exploring nature with his wife and two children.
