Those who shoot film know it can be extremely unpredictable, and if you’re just starting, be prepared to feel everything from excitement to confusion.

These frames were shot on one of my favorite punchy film stocks EVER: Fuji 200. The variation in these frames come down to the camera, settings, and some unknowns along the way. For the pure unpredictably- I always do my best to have multiple frames of each angle.

Don’t let it scare you. Every time I go into a shoot I have a direction and honestly, let the nature of film decide the last bit to give it the ‘umph’ I dig.

When you have a film stock you gravitate toward, learn why. This has helped me predict how my film will come out, where to adjust lighting, and how the shadow/ highlight hues shift in light.

I love each of these scans for individual reasons. Which one do you like best?
