It's funny, I've talked with DOZENS of brides on how to prepare for their engagement session but now that I am the bride I feel like a deer in the headlights 🦌 and I've gained a LOT of empathy for just how overwhelming this process is! 😅

Would you believe me if I told you that 6 different photographers took these photos?? Well they did!!

When you hire an associate photographer with Photography by Tasha Rose you don’t have to worry about which photographer you are getting because EVERYONE is so incredibly talented! The entire team receives extensive training by me and I edit every image so you know exactly what to expect when you get your photos back.

I have always hired photographers for my team based on about 20% skill and 80% my gut feeling. You can teach a monkey how to take a photo, but you can’t teach a monkey how to treat people, have an eye for the perfect photo and become a friend along the way. Sparkler exits are definitely the most common but sometimes your wedding venue or a local fire ban won't allow you to use them OR you just want something different!!

Keep in mind, if you are leaving in the dark, adding some extra light outdoors can help your photos to turn out better even if your fun exit doesn't include light themselves (like a sparkler would)

Here are a few ideas I've seen that are SO FUN!

BUBBLES
- Grab a few bubble guns/bubble machines along with individual bubbles for each guest so your exit and photos can be FULL of bubbles!

CONFETTI!
- My personal favorite is white confetti but the colorful confetti is fun too! Just make sure you have a cleanup crew because this confetti is a pain to clean up!

ROSE PETALS
- Such a fun idea! Make sure to also have a cleanup crew ready to pick up lots of petals :)

RIBBON WANDS
You can buy ribbon wands WITH lights on Etsy or DIY but even just a wand with ribbon makes a really fun exit!

Wedding planning is an overwhelming time to say the least (or so I've been told 😅)

BUT IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE

1. You only get to be engaged for a short amount of time - SO DON'T FORGET TO ENJOY IT!

2. Once you are ready to dive into planning check out my brand new wedding planning guide specifically for The Latter-Day Bride!! I have packed it full of EVERYTHING you need to know to plan your wedding regardless of your budget or planning timeline.

3. Book your date, venue & the temple!! (Those are musts to move forward with any other planning!!)

4. Sit down with your fiancé and decide on your THREE top MUSTS for your wedding! Get those booked and then start slowly booking everything else!

Wedding planning doesn't have to be miserable! Take it one thing at a time!! :)

Getting ready for your engagement session? Then this checklist is for YOU!! ❤️

1. Check the distance to the location ahead of time so you make sure you are ON TIME! Keep in mind which time of day you will be driving and what day of the week it is, will there be extra traffic? Don't forget the canyons can get really backed up in the winter with Skiing and Snowboarding.

2. Paint your nails and get your ring cleaned a few days BEFORE your session! Don't leave these for the last minute because then you'll end up doing it in the car on the way to your session.

3. Pack your outfits & extra makeup ahead of time! Do you need special socks and shoes for your outfits? Any jewelry? Lay out your full outfit and then pack it so you don't miss anything!!

4. Bring snacks & water along so no one gets hangry! Grooms especially appreciate this one!! Just make sure the snacks won't ruin any of your clothes :)

5. Check the weather!! Even if you don't want to wear a coat or use an umbrella in your photos you might want them between shots. Come prepared!!

Tis the season’ of ✨Engagement sessions!! ✨

Here’s what you need to know about scheduling your engagements:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Schedule at least 6 weeks before your wedding day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ It’s best to use the same photographer for all of your photoshoots so you are comfortable and certain you love their photos!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Check what time the sunset is on the date of your session and plan to start about 2 hours before that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ If you have a long engagement - think about what season you want photos in. If you want snow right now is great, if you want some Spring flowers waiting until March - April will get you that!!
