I love walking around in the dark. This trip I left my headlamp turned off more and let my eyes adjust. It’s amazing how bright a sky full of stars can be. Even with a little light pollution on the horizon that stars shine so bright.

I love how this shot turned out. Big Dipper, shooting star, mountain, scattered tall trees, and light wispy clouds. Shoot, I think that little dot on the horizon is Venus. I just realized it as I was typing this caption. 😂 oh and you can just barely make out the lights inside the lookout tower.

Last Thursday on the river was magical. We hit that stretch where the water was a mirror. I can’t wait to go camping on the ski and shoot some Milky Way photos in places I couldn’t by land.

In 2014 I came up with an idea for a photo. My buddy Sean Fair and I tried to make it happen but our rope was too short. So in 2015 we doubled the amount of rope and went back for our second attempt. It worked. I wanted to make Sean look like he was standing on the mountain. I can’t believe it’s been 11 years since we did this. Sad the recent wild fires have changed this view.

Milky Way Core season is almost half over. I have not been able to get out as much as I have in the past this year. I do have some trips planned for next month, but I’d like to get out 1-3 more time this month during the new moon window. We’ll see. Happy Wednesday.
