Last night I ran up the hill to see how the fire was looking. In my post yesterday a good amount of you felt I was blaming loggers or logging for this fire. I was not blaming anyone. It was just a guess due to the fact the fire is on a timber companies property. This fire was an accident not something done on purpose.
Now here is an update from ODF:
Kinney Ridge Fire - 6/3 Morning Update
ODF worked overnight and will continue suppression efforts throughout today.
Due to more accurate mapping and minimal fire growth, the fire size has been updated to 19.11 acres. Cooler temperatures and favorable weather conditions are expected to help the firefighters today as suppression efforts continue.
The fire is mostly lined and has a hose lay around it except for a trouble spot in the East corner that has approximately 70-90% slopes and rock faces. That will be the focus area this morning into the afternoon to cool down and continue with mop-up efforts.
Resources on scene include a Type 2
Helicopter, one 20-person hand crew, one
10-person AlC crew, two OF engines, one ODF tender and three private tenders and associated overhead on scene managing the incident. An additional 20-person crew and overhead are on order at this time.
Cause is still under investigation.
