I couldn’t resist not getting a few sneak peeks from this session 1. because it’s my brother & 2. it’s on a sailboat ?!!! Beyond excited for film scans to come back from this 🥹😭

One of my favorite things about photography is that sometimes the best part has nothing to do with the photos.

Caden & Allie wanted engagement photos on a sailboat, which felt like a pretty big ask for Southern Illinois. After asking around and getting a few recommendations, Allie connected with someone kind enough to share his sailboat with us for the evening.

What followed was one of those evenings that reminds you how special people can be. We spent the night sailing, hearing stories about the boat, talking about life, laughing, and watching the sun disappear over the lake.

The photos are beautiful. I know they will be. Tonight reminded me some of life’s best moments aren’t planned. They happen when people open their hands, share what they have, and make room for someone else. The sailboat made for unreal photos. The kindness is what made the night unforgettable & we left with a new friend and story to tell!

Branding sessions scratch such a fun creative itch for me, and I had so much fun with this one! is truly so talented at what she does. The level of trust families place in her during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, the unpredictability of being on-call for births, and the way she creates such emotional, stunning imagery in the middle of all of that is just so impressive. She was absolutely made for this. So, so gifted!

One of my favorite things about this job is getting to document people in the coolest places!

I’ll be in Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Phoenix, Cancun, and a few other places over the next year, so if you’ve been wanting to make something happen where you are…hi!!! Let’s chat!!
