Today, Mexico celebrates el Día de los Mu***os (the Day of the Dead), one of the most fascinating celebrations around the world. It might remind you of Halloween, but it’s, in fact, a totally different tradition.

The Day of the Dead is a colorful celebration with photos and ofrendas (offerings) that are placed on the altar of those who have passed away as a way to honor and remember them. In addition, people dress up as Calavera Catrinas or Catrins as a strong symbol of the Day of the Dead. ***os

Join the Shafter Library & Learning Center tonight as Shafter hosts its first-ever Día De Los Mu***os event. The event is FREE; be sure to bring your familias and enjoy some music, live performances, food, and activities. Come in your best Catrina or Catrin costume and join the contest. 💀 Event starts at 5PM, see you there!

Happy Dia De Los Mu***os Day! While we walk around with our loved ones who have passed, pay attention to all the little things around you. They are here with us whispering that they love us. The sounds in your house, the music playing, the memories on loop. They have never left us. It's just hard to see them. But today, they embrace us 💚 enjoy your day, and feel the love that they offer. Because love is eternal pain, both happy and sad.
