About 10 years ago, I realized that there was more to photography than just the family birthday parties, Christmas' and all the other important milestones. I started studying, taking hundreds of shots, (never happy with them and deleting), and then I realized, take photos that I see. I started with nature shots, and worked my way through so that the shots of people were unique, not posed, but much

more natural. People tend to stiffen up when they are asked to have a photo taken of them. I also started entering contests. While I haven't won any of them, the experience alone was worth it. My favorite contest has been Salem's Historical Photo Contest. The two photos I submitted, actually got to hang in the state capitol.
