These people right here. 🤍
I’ve been photographing this lovely group of humans for over 5 years. They fell in my inbox after their previous photographer (and close friend of mine — Leslie Walker I will be forever grateful for this referral 🥹) was amidst a move. Since then, I’ve photographed two newbie sessions and their whole crew every year for the last 5 years.
They came into my life unexpectedly and it is so much better off for it. When they show up, they SHOW UP. They let go of their expectations, they let their kiddos lead. They PLAY. They aren’t afraid to show me a bit of what it’s like to actually be a part of their world. I’m pretty sure the words I said when I left was “this is the most fun I’ve had in a while”.
We slid down hills on an old tilapia loins cardboard box we found outside of some door. We spun in circles and used our imaginations on playgrounds and pretended we were on space ships. And when we wrapped, we were all spent in the best way. The sunset dipped down and hit our sweaty backs as we chased crying kiddos out of the park.
I have found that I look so forward to these moments with them. It doesn’t matter where we go or what unscripted memories we write into these kid’s chapters of life — it is always, always, always good for the soul.
