Hello everyone. Just a short bit about myself. My name is KJ, but some call me Ken or Kenny. I’m a native of our nation’s capital city, Washington, D.C. I left the city a few years ago for a small town in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of northern virginia where I currently live with my partner, and our 3 wonderful cats. City boy gone country! I spent most of my life growing u

p and living in Washington, but finally decided to move out to a more spacious, open, and rural setting. I will always love the city, and my home city of Washington D.C. I have always had a love for, and ties to the country, and have finally decided to live in it, all be it not too far from the bright lights of the big city. Some of the things I thoroughly enjoy are: A good glass of wine or a good beer, great friends, nature, gardening, plants, outdoors, hiking, biking, tubing, kayaking, music, computers, movies, travel, history, antiques, animals, the country, mountains…… I could go on but that’s enough for now. I suppose Photography is my main hobby, although I enjoy most of the other things I mentioned just as much. I consider myself an amateur photographer, but have been doing photography and taking photos for much of my 40 years. I’ve always been told that “I have an eye for it” and that I’m “very good at it”. I’ll let you be the judge of that however. Quite simply, I take photos, and I enjoy doing that immensely. If others can find beauty and enjoyment through the my eyes and the lens of the camera’s I use, well that is just even better. I created this simple website to showcase and share some of my photography work. If you enjoy looking at the photos I take, please do feel free to follow my photo blog here, comment and even contact me. I’m always looking for new friends that I have things in common with, especially the outdoors, nature, and photography. Also please do visit my Instagram Gallery, and follow me on there! You may also follow me on Twitter. For now, I will leave you with just a few photos of myself so you can see the person behind the the lens of camera taking the photos you see here.

I finally potted up my Monstera Adansonii cuttings. I placed two different “forms” on the same pot. The large one appears to be the normal or possibly narrow form, and the other fittings came from one of my round form plants. The large one I acquired from a large road side patch of them in the area mostly growing along the ground. The others come from round form plants already in my collection. I wanted to get these four going up a totem so their leaves keep getting larger. Happy planting everyone! @ Saint Petersburg, Florida

Plant Post: Monstera Adansonii growing “wild” outdoors on a city street. These are mature flowering and fruiting plants growing on the ground and partially up into some trees. Some of of the leaves are 8-15” long! One of the things I love about living in Florida, specifically a USDA ( ) hardiness some 10A is the astounding amount of plants that thrive outdoors here. A tropical climate is where your average House plants can grow wild and grow to their full, ver large, sometimes giant potential. Some grow into giant trees. While others are very large vines that climb very large trees and produce leaves as large as an arm or a leg, or even your entire body. @ Saint Petersburg, Florida

Sometimes you just have to enjoy a sunset from where you are. I’m this case, stuck in traffic on 16th St. N. Heading north whole stuck under the elevated interstate 375 and it’s on/ off ramps connecting to the elevated interstate 275, near downtown Saint Petersburg, FL. It www Beautiful even in the city with the obstructions and the silhouetted platforms and palm trees helped make it even better.

Industry meets nature: it’s not very often that we find ourselves in places where these two powerhouses meet. One made made, one a natural part of earth. While industry is a must for all of our modern creature comforts, it’s important to know fully well where things come from and the impacts these goods / services / products have on the environment not only post use, but in their creation as well. This is why we all need to advocate for strong environmental protections and regulations on said industry, as they often overlap in horrifying ways which severely impact and damage our natural world, which we all depends on and cannot life without. It’s true that while we as individuals cannot do much, it is also very important that we can have an impact, and a very large one when large groups of us work together towards similar goals. So the next time you turn on your lights or buy that single use water bottle or use a plastic straw, why not at least insure that it’s recycled properly, or even skip using it when possible. Plastic straws are not necessary. The more we do in small ways as individuals, the larger our impact becomes when we help each other make these little changes. Reduce/ Reuse / recycle. Love our mother. She is the only one we have and once she’s destroyed we all suffer and will cease to exist. ❤️ 🌎 @ Teco -Manatee Viewing Station

1/2/2018 - 5:50 PM - Sunset over Boca Ciega Bay, St Petersburg / Gulfport, Florida. Take a moment and stop to enjoy the every day beauty that is all around us naturally. You will not be disappointed. Our planet is a beautiful place and most of us taken for granted. Be different and pay attention to it sometimes. It will speak to you. @ Clam Bayou Nature Park

Greetings from windy Florida on this Winter Solstice! These photos represent Winter Solstice then, and now. Today’s wild weather here in Florida’s southwest Suncoast did come with some beautiful sights as well. Not a typical winter scene but just as beautiful. - Winter creeps in under cover of darkness just before dawn. The shortest day is upon us, and the longest night ahead, still to come. During this time of waning light and ever present darkness in the north, My best wishes to all of you, for Bright Blessings and a happy Winter Solstice! Remember the old ways. Remember and be thankful for all that Mother Earth has given us. May the light illuminate this longest, darkest night. As the Yule fires of renewal burn, remember the sun shall return, and we shall begin the cycle of life and the seasons anew. Photo credit - Me.

An artists mind never stops seeing , looking, searching. Every single thing no matter how large or small has potential to hold great interest and beauty if only seen from the right angle or under the right light , by the right pair of eyes. My eyes never stop looking for things to photograph. It’s constant. Here; the Lines, textures, tones / colors which also play a major part in everything everywhere, caught my eye. The natural curving lines, texture, tones/ colors of the two palm trees stood out to me against the rather stark background of the straight lines of the grid pattern of this brutalist / modernist / international style building and it caught my eye. As I looked at the the stark blandness of the building came to life as I noticed subtle colors. The windows reflecting the sky, clouds, trees, and other buildings took on the tones of the objects reflected in them. The semi glossy beige panels above each window also has different hues of the color with hints of others. As I stood there taking a few photos this wasn’t just a building. It was a subject. One that my eyes found interest and art in. Most people walk / look past most things without ever noticing a single unique or interesting throng about them. Some don’t. Sometimes it’s worth a second glance, and to stop and just enjoy what’s right in front of you, and make something good from that. @ Saint Petersburg, Florida
