As my 26th lap around the sun is headed to a close next week, I've been spending a lot of time reflecting on my past year.
When I'm not actively policing my thoughts, it's been so easy to get down on myself. My brain runs rampant with feelings of how I've been so lazy lately, I'm not accomplishing anything, life is feeling repetitive and boring. I caught myself on this track a few days ago and had to run through the past year in my head. During this moment of reflection, I was reminded of all the things I've accomplished this year both big and small. I went back to school and go another degree. I actualized a 5+ year dream of building out my own van. I worked through recovering from my ankle reconstruction last year and through the mental blocks to start lead climbing again. I began learning how to whitewater kayak. I finally stepped out and pursued my dream career, had one less than ideal attempt, and tried again, leading to my current position with Bluefire that I am absolutely in love with. I spent time investing in important relationships with lifelong friends and began building new ones.

Be wary of the narratives your mind creates for you when you're not paying attention. More often than not, they are grossly inaccurate. 2020 has been one helluva ride for all of us. What is an accomplishment YOU are proud of from the past year??

Micah warming up on Spook The Herd, 5.10a
So thrilled to be climbing with these two again after two years. I love the friends that the climbing community has brought to me. This couple is rock solid (pun intended): amazing climbers, co van lifers, dog parents, adventurers, and fantastic friends. So grateful for our time together and look forward to the next!

I met Korbin in Ciry of Rocks earlier this week through mhtual friends. It was such a pleasure and inspiration climbing with this guy and seeing him send it hard after only climbing for a few months and fearlessly stepping out of his comfort zone of sport climbing to try out leading trad. Until next time, climb on!

Between covid and my van I haven't been taking many new photos, and haven't reallt had much time for editing either. Goal is to get back to a more regularly scheduled sharing of adventures this summer!
For now, here's in some questionable snow conditions in one of Wyoming's amazing couloirs!

What's your favorite Teton season? Mine used to be fall, less crowded but still great climbing weather and phenomenal foliage. This past winter though I finally made a few trips up to no th ride Jackson Hole and get in some mind blowing backcountry days, and I think I may have a new favorite season up there!

Digging up old photos. I never got around to this badass one of sending it hard on his birthday trip back in February. We made a split second decision to throw together a ski trip to Michigan in the middle of this storm of the venture in Colorado and everyone thought we were idiots. I think it was worth it.

Well, after Lightroom trashing my edits and making me start over THREE TIMES....I finally have a finished product, although I liked edit number 2 the best and couldn't seem to quite get back to it. By the way, does anyone know I have no redo option in Lightroom? Adobe help & support was useless. Anyways, I spent so much time on this edit that I don't feel like coming up with a thoughtful caption anymore. Good thing I have plenty of time on my hands 😂 how is YOUR quarantine going?

What are YOU doing to survive the quarantine?
I'm catching up on 6+months of photos that have just been sitting on my camera!
I also hung my pull up bar on my bathroom door so that I can't shut the door to p*e unless I take it down, so as a result I am doing a pull up every time I enter or leave the bathroom. Climbing season here I come!
Drop me a funny story of something you're doing to stay entertained!

The night feels long right now but there is always some light, some hope. My hope is that through this we all find some small way to feed our souls. Being cooped up inside and away from the things that fulfill and refresh me is tough, as I know many of you can relate to.
I hope that we can all find an alternative for the time being....spend extra time working out, creating art, whatever that means to you, catching up on projects, reading and learning.
If you need an ear to listen or a hand to hold during all this uncertainty, please reach out. We need to come together as a community like we never have before 💕
And for God's sake, please follow CDC guidelines and stop going to idiotic parties so we cab all go back outside sooner than later.
