Hills I will die on [part o n e]. Getting ready for your wedding day is PART of your wedding day and deserves to be documented. Whether you start the day with all of your best friends singing, or alone with a big cup of coffee, or with your partner helping zip each other up… the way you spend these hours is a conscious choice you made

And the memories that happen during these hours are honestly some of my favorites throughout the day. Which might seem counterintuitive, because maybe you aren’t with your partner yet. BUT, anticipation is at its peak. Your tears before you decide to hold them in so you don’t ruin makeup (which by the way…. I fully support letting your tears ruin your makeup). Your silly reminiscing with friends before you step into a new chapter. It’s all here.

I was talking with a friend this morning about how much I love newborn sessions. Taking the time to slow down, soak in the new season, balancing toddler requests for attention, family snuggles… the most precious times that go way too fast.

The best engagement sessions (in my opinion) reflect what you love to do together. Sure, they may be used for a save the date or to display in your parent’s home, but I don’t see them as a reason to show off your engagement ring. There are two reasons I love and suggest engagement sessions;

1 - They break down the awkwardness of getting your photo taken. The goal is to not worry about, focus on, or feel self conscious about the camera in front of you. On your wedding day I want you to feel as natural as possible so that you don’t feel like you’re performing, and getting the experience to be photographed as your natural self BEFORE your wedding day is invaluable.

2 - Having professional photos of you in your everyday environment is a gift. Wedding photos are incredible and special and irreplaceable, but being able to look at yourself and your relationship in a beautiful way that may seem “just average” is my favorite part.

Your relationship is beautiful. How you spend time together is beautiful. Being able to look back and say “this is how we fell in love” is priceless.
