Documenting newborns always takes me right back to when my own little ones were babies. It's hard to believe my soon to be kindergartner once fit in my hands just like this. One minute they are these tiny little precious babes and then before you know it they're tying their own shoes, riding their bikes with no training wheels, and blowing you away with all they are capable of.

It's common to deal with some very conflicted feelings when this happens to you. More than anything I hope that you remember you did your best. You gave it all you got. Birth can be hard. That's why it is so important to have the right support team in place. When you feel like you cannot do it any more they will be there to remind you that YES, you can! When you feel that you have reached the end of yourself they will be there to provide the help you need to continue on. They can't do the work for you, but they can be there to support your emotional and physical needs. The victory though- that belongs to you alone.

One of the most common questions I get about maternity sessions is when they should be scheduled for.

I like to schedule my maternity sessions to occur between 32-36 weeks for single babies and between 28-32 weeks for multiples.

This allows for images to be taken with a nice big belly before baby begins to drop and while you can still fully enjoy your session. It also helps us mostly avoid baby coming before your session is scheduled for.

So when should you book your session? As soon as possible! I book sessions out months in advance, which means my calendar fills fast. It's always best to contact me as soon as you know you would like to have a maternity session booked to get your date in my planner.

Changes to our game plan can be hard. It is easy to feel like you're no longer in control. This is one of the reasons I always discuss what a birthing persons preferences will be if a new plan becomes necessary. It helps to ensure you remain in control of your birth no matter what twists and turns it may take.

I learned the importance of having a back up plan with my own births which did not unfold as I would have preferred.

It is so easy to get overwhelmed with parenthood. The to-do list is never ending. Most days you might go to bed exhausted like I do. The days can seem to blur together.

There is magic in these days with our kids. It may not always jump out at us. In fact, much of the time you may have to be very intentional in looking for it.

Take the time today to just stop and allow it to come to you. Stop the chores for a moment. Hold your little ones close. Smell their hair. Truly feel the space they take up in your arms. Soak it all in.
