Rhett has AKD.
Avian Keratin Disorder (AKD) is a disease causing severe beak deformation in finches and other birds, characterized by rapid, abnormal overgrowth of the keratin layer.

Please keep a look out for Rhett and let me know if you see him. He's definitely holding his own despite his severe deformitie. He's larger than most of my daily finch visitors. Rhett demands his feeding time and can be a bit of a bully.
I tried to discuss his attitude with him, but he said, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn". Then he was gone with the wind.

I have reported Rhett to the proper scientist. If you see any other birds with AKD, please let me know and together we can keep an eye on our birds.
