Showers and storms are forecast to move into western portions of the forecast area over the next few hours. They are forecast to move ESE towards the state line before decaying. Wind gusts up to 70 mph is the primary hazard. Be alert for strong wind gusts with outflow as the storms decay!

Today, I can do hard things.
As I write this, I find myself reflecting on a journey that began more than three decades ago. In 1994, I started serving Cheyenne County as a volunteer EMT. In July 2014, I began my career in 911 dispatch, and on July 1, 2026, I would have reached twelve years of service in dispatch. While my final day as a Cheyenne County employee will be today, June 30, 2026, my connection with this community will never truly end.
Serving the people of Cheyenne County has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Whether responding to emergencies as an EMT or answering the phone in dispatch during someone's worst moment, I have understood that this work was about people. It was about helping neighbors, supporting first responders, and doing my best to make a difference when it mattered most.
This career has brought challenges, sacrifices, long hours, sleepless nights, difficult calls, and moments that will stay with me forever. It has also brought incredible friendships, unforgettable experiences, and a deep sense of purpose. Through every season of life, I have been proud to serve this county and the people who call it home.
Retirement is not an easy decision. This community has been a significant part of my life for many years. However, the time has come to step away and begin a new chapter. While my heart will always remain with Cheyenne County, I look forward to spending more time with my family and embracing the opportunities that retirement brings.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the coworkers, first responders, county officials, and community members I have had the privilege of working alongside throughout the years. Thank you for your support, your trust, and the memories we have shared.
It has been my honor and privilege to serve Cheyenne County. I leave with a grateful heart, proud of the work we have done together, and confident in the future of the county I have always been proud to call home.
