Not all VHS digitization is created equal.

Take a look at the side-by-side video below. Both of these captures are using a "Time Base Corrector" (TBC) - a piece of hardware designed to fix errors in old analog video.

On the left is a "mid-grade" setup. Even with a TBC, the picture is jittery, wobbly, and unstable.

On the right is the Cosmic Light Media setup. We pair our Time Base Corrector with a dedicated Frame Synchronizer. The result? A rock-solid, crystal-clear signal.

Ever wonder what happens when a VHS tape is considered "too far gone"?

Recently, the Barron County Historical Society's Pioneer Village Museum ran into a frustrating roadblock. They had 11 historical tapes that their standard digitization system simply couldn’t read. Every attempt resulted in the dreaded "no-signal" screen.

When preserving history, giving up isn't an option - so they brought the stubborn tapes over to Cosmic Light Media.

Check out the comparison video below! On the left is the blank screen standard equipment was getting. On the right is the actual footage we successfully recovered.

When tapes severely degrade, consumer-grade digitizers drop the signal entirely. By routing the tapes through our professional signal chain we were able to lock onto the tracking and pull these lost moments out of the static.
