📣 Engagement Sessions are meant to be fun - you don’t have to stress over a location or come up with some grand, intricate plan. 📣

Pick a place you really like or that holds some meaning for you, don’t worry if it doesn’t strike you as ”photo worthy” right away - let me hold that for you. After 15+ years of photographing, I don’t need much to work with when it comes to locations - if it means something to you, it’ll show and sometimes that’s all you need.

My favorite thing to do for these sessions is pull the ole Park-n-Wander - and that’s exactly what K+Z and I did for this session! is a delicious mocktail bar in the most perfect moody, vibe-y space to kick photos off! Despite all of the hurdles Sam has dealt with since the hurricane, we sure are glad she found this cozy little corner to call her own and that she was gracious enough to let us snap some pics in there 🙌🏼

From there - you guessed it - we wandered. Strolled up and down the streets of downtown Waynesville, danced in the road a bit and then headed over to Lake Junaluska where they’ll be tying the knot in a few months. And it was perfect. 💜

When you opt to include your hometown bar in your Engagement Session - big fan! 👌🏼

Boston was wicked fun. Kristy and Will showed us some of their favorite local spots in North End, which now happen to be some of our favorite spots! was kind enough to let us soak some up some of their space for these photos, we repaid them by drinking way too much Guinness and carrying on good and wild with the band for a few hours afterwards. Highly recommend. 10/10 ⭐️

Boston - we’re coming back for you in October! Kristy & Will’s wedding is gonna be outta this world! 💃🏻

Hope for the best, plan for the worst - or be prepared to roll with the punches a wedding day can sometimes throw! That’s a big key to a “perfect” wedding day if you ask me. The weather is something you absolutely cannot control. So if you’re getting married during rainy season: have a rain plan - a place out of the elements to have the ceremony if it’s scheduled to be outside, have umbrellas for you as well as your guests, and choose a photographer who isn’t afraid of getting a little wet & dirty! And most importantly - LET GO, embrace the rain if it comes your way. Hell, if you can’t control it, dance in it! 💃🏻🕺🏼

Words of wisdom from a wedding photographer of 15+ years:
👉🏼 WIGGLE ROOM - work as much wiggle room into your timeline as possible, don’t schedule everything down to the last second…your nervous system will thank you for the time to breath!
👉🏼 RAIN PLAN - I don’t care where the heck you live, have a plan b! I have photographed weddings in literal hurricanes and the only reason any of us survived that day is because of back up plans…on back up plans on back up plans 😅
👉🏼 PRINT!! - Just do it. Print your wedding photos. There’s something about holding those moments in your hands that really brings it to life. *Currently in the process of taking my own advice* 🫡

It’s been one year since hurricane Helene hit us here in the mountains of North Carolina. While we (my husband and I and my family) were unbelievably lucky and were mostly spared, some of our most favorite and beloved areas, businesses and friends took a direct hit and suffered the wrath of Helene. As a Floridian, I boast about knowing a thing or two about hurricanes and most certainly know how to handle them - from prep, to riding it out, and the cleanup after - been there done it all! It’s almost impossible to explain if you weren’t here to experience it firsthand, but this was…different. I’ve never in my 34 years and at least 10 major hurricanes have seen the kind of devastation I witnessed here.

Nonetheless, here we are. One year later. The Flowering Bridge, pictured above, was torn down due to structural damage last month. The geography of many areas has changed, never to be the same again as it was a year ago. People have rebuilt, started brand new - many are still trying to figure it out. The resilience of the people of Appalachia perseveres, not that I would have expected anything less.

As the rain pours down tonight, so do some tears for the lives lost, the loved ones haunted by the memories that comes with this rain, and the ones who press on hand in hand with their neighbors in spite of it all.

This feels like a ✨fever dream✨, in the best way.

I don’t know how or why Clare & Jess’ wedding photos are not already on my feed, but better late than never because LOOK AT THEM! I can still feel all the love that was floating around that day.

The truth is, I was really burnt out when this wedding day came around. Luckily, Clare & Jess - and so many other couples I work with - felt like long lost friends from the moment we connected. Their wedding reminded me how much I love the smaller more intimate weddings and rejuvenated my soul, as well as my passion for documentary photography.

Consider this yet another friendly reminder to choose a photographer you vibe with. 💜

Happy 2025 babes! Last year was a doozy - there were some low lows but the highs, man there were some high HIGHS y’all!

It’s really hard to trust the process sometimes, but sometimes life has a crazy way of working out just the way it’s supposed to. A prime example in these photos: my inseparable childhood best friend (we lost touch for probably 10+ years at one point) and I got married 6 months apart both to ambitious, generous (+ a little boujee) men and we were both able to be there with each other for our big days like we always talked about. What a freaking blessing!

So here’s to 2025 - a year of more dear friend’s weddings, of picking up my camera for myself more often, of prioritizing my marriage, our mental & physical health & creating the life we always dream about. 🥂

I've had a few of you reach out regarding the status of Princess Place after the storm and after speaking with park services this morning I'm happy to report that the park is open and the Grateful Gathering Sessions will go on! 🙌🏼

I can't wait to squeeze all of you! I still have a little bit of availability left for sessions on Thursday and Friday (Nov. 7 & 8) - comment here or dm me directly to get on the books!
