It was so fun to photograph this senior doing what he loves. He told me he enjoys working on his truck in his mechanic class and free time. We went to the CTE building at the school and photographed him with his truck!

I used the PMI gear smoke ninja to create some fun effects and mag mod gel filters to add blue lights!

If you have a fun hobby, sport, or interest DM to book your session!

Here’s another example of a Senior Session where I didn’t have access to a proper MMA gym. I had to get creative in the studio. I’ll grabbed an old piece of chain-link fence from my house and brought it to the studio. I clipped it to a stool and a chair to make it stand up freely. I then got low enough to shoot through the chain-link fence to give the appearance of a cage fight. I also used smoke and gel filters to add a fun element to the photos. I love to think outside the box or not everything goes as planned for a session.

I love the creative aspect of cake smash sessions. Getting to create a fun and unique setup is one of my favorite things!

Some of very favorite cake smash setups have been

Peter Pan
Cruella
Sandlot
Malibu Barbie
Surfer/ beach bum
Santa Monica Pier/ Route 66
Circus
Happy camper
State fair
Holy cow
Wild one

What is your favorite one I have done?

Maybe I should start a new series of photos. We could call it

“Sports in unusual places.”

A lot of times for senior sessions I can not get access to the field, gym, or place the athlete does their sport.

For example I had a soccer player that wanted soccer photos… but it didn’t work to be on a soccer field… so I could have used grass anywhere. Instead she loved boating and the forest so we went and took soccer photos in the woods and on a boat to combine two things she liked.

I have taken photos of basketball players downtown in a park, because we couldn’t get a gym. This session we couldn’t get access to a boxing gym, so we used a weight room instead.

If you play a sport and want photos in a usual place message me. Maybe fencing in the library. Swimming photos in the public fountain or river. Basketball at the beach, etc. let’s think outside the box!

When you love chess… and it’s time for senior photos… you get chess senior photos taken.

I had to get creative with this session when I did it last year. The senior brought a long a roll up chess board which wouldn’t work for the first photo I had envisioned. I searched my studio and found some foam core to attach it to. The next challenge was a table. I wanted it to look like I was across the table from him during a match. So I make shifted a table out of a stool and an old wood crate. It worked perfectly!

Now I just need to learn the rules so I can play!

Should I post a few more from this adorable guys newborn session?

This time of year is always crazy. Everyone is running to field days, graduation parties, senior sunrise, banquets, field trips, awards assembly’s, spring practices, graduation practice, and a million other things.

I think the saying maycember is so true. It truly feels like December with all the things to be at.
Just today I had a field trip, two field days, a practice, and somewhere in there dinner. I feel like if we make it through May it will be a miracle.

Are your kids out of school yet? If not when do they get out and how are you surviving?

I have a ton of cap and gown sessions to edit and everyone around here graduates this week so those will be coming soon. I hope everyone has the best graduation and in the meantime here are some seniors I got lucky enough to photograph this year.
