This is easily one of the most popular photos I've shot.

I'm very happy with how the photo came out. Honestly, i'm always amazed when I look at it. The Milky Way is so bright and the stars around it are so many!
There are so many stars!!

This is the Church of the Good Shepard in Tekapo, NZ. I've been told its the most photographed church in the world. I believe it.

With a beautiful blue lake during the day, a gorgeous night sky in the evening, and white snow in the winter, it seems that there is no bad time to take a photo of this church.

This shot was taken from just across a small river. I met a couple of friends and went over how to shoot astrophotography with them. Originally, this location was meant to be just an example before we get to the good spot.

But once I saw the photo in my viewfinder, I knew I needed spend some serious time taking some shots here. At the end, what came out was this beautiful shot.

I'm very fascinated with these monkeys. When I started taking photos of them, they seemed like they knew exactly what to do.

On their own, they sat, posed, and changed positions when I was done taking photos. These little ones were better models than some of my previous clients. (Let's keep that between us😛)

It was so much fun to watch them move around, interact with one another, and see them live their lives. At times, it looked like they were doing the same to me. As I moved from place to place, getting the right position for the right shot, they watched.

Much like in this picture, there was always one of them seemingly staring right into the lens. Fascinating!

I came to this lighthouse knowing I wanted this particular shot, but I had no idea it would look this good.

Earlier in the day, I had scouted the area looking for the best spots to set my camera. I went high and low searching for key locations. I set my heart on this spot at the base of the lighthouse.

When the time came to take the photo, I played with my timing over and over again. I wanted to get the photo just right. So many of the photos looked the same, just with a different amount of light let in each time.

Snap after snap, each capture told a different story of the lighthouse. Finally, this one came to be.

This quickly became one of my favorites. I have it in my competition collection, photos that I enter into contests. It's a beautifully perfect combination of the lighthouse and stars.

I love pictures that show how small we humans are.

I originally came to Wharariki Beach, I was on the hunt! I was told upon arrival from other visitors that Microsoft apparently had one of their stock photo backgrounds taken here. I was eager to find it.

My hunt for the spot would prove fruitless. Nevertheless, I did find other great beauty to capture. Eventually, my camera found its way to this enormous rock formation. I stood far from it, in awe of its greatness.

The people along the beach walking toward it are a perfect scale for the grandness of the rock. They are a perfect representation of a story I like to convey: we humans are small.

We're small in comparison to nearly everything. Rocks, the sky, even animals can all tower over humans as if we did not even exist.

I like the idea of being small. Makes me believe that I have a better chance at doing big things.

When I came to Christchurch, I was exhausted. I had recently completed a journey of about 2,500kms from the Cape Reinga to Invercargill. My journey across the entirety of New Zealand was complete and I needed to mentally decompress from it all.

On my way up the South Island, I decided to stay in Christchurch for a weekend. Let me tell you, it has made all the difference.

"Chch" welcomed me with open arms. I found the rest I needed within the fun and friendly atmosphere all around the CBD. From giant swings to large hammocks, Chch seems to have a little bit of everything you could want.

I made my home in a hostel and began using nearly everyday to explore around. I turned my exploration time into giving unofficial tours of the city to other residents who came into Christchurch.

The first spot I always took people was to this clock tower. I have a few pictures of the Victoria Clock Tower. This one is one of my favorites. The colors of the tower contrast perfectly with the colors of the clouds and sky behind. You can see both the shine of the glass and the age of the tower.

Alone it sits in this picture, as it sprouts into the sky.
