First attempt at shooting the sun using a 20 stop filter (ND 1,000,000 blocks all but 0.0001% of incoming light). Very interesting so see the sun this way. It was incredibly hard to focus due to the almost black out screen and ultra bright conditions. Needed to be very careful to not look directly at the sun which made it hard when needing to view the subject to setup the composition. Was hoping to see some flares or sun spots. Apparently the sun goes through cycles and right now this is what it looks like.

First attempt at actually finding the Andromeda Galaxy this morning which is impossible to see with the unaided eye in a heavy light pollution area like Sacramento. This is our nearest galaxy at only 14.7 quintillion miles away and is moving towards us with a 50% chance of colliding in the next 10 billion years.

Got a clear sky view of Betelgeuse this morning. This is a red supergiant star in the equatorial constellation of Orion. It is usually the tenth-brightest star in the night sky. Betelgeuse is around 700 light-years, or about 4 quadrillion miles away. In today's space flight abilities it would take more than 1 million years to get there.
