I think I recently mentioned that alas: I made the jump from natural light to off-camera flash. In the midst of this transition, our home has looked like a bomb went off for the past 7 days as I try, try and try some more to make sense of this foreign territory, and ultimately: make artificial light replicate the sun-drenched diffusion I know + love. I feel completely out of my comfort zone (and even a bit vulnerable) but am more certain than ever that this is my passion. And that growing pains (...e.g. throwing a log of goat cheese across the room in frustration)...are merely part of the journey. Looking forward to sharing more of these not-perfect-but-part-of-the-journey shots with you soon.

When I was little, I carried a Composition book around. I took it everywhere and wrote down... everything. But my favorite thing to do, hands down, was to rate the bathrooms. Seriously, at 7 years old, I would give various restrooms in restaurants, hotels and golf courses overall ratings based on cleanliness, music, and toilet paper. What kid does that?! So it’s no surprise I grew up to have an affinity for thoughtful bathrooms. That being said: You knocked this one out of the park, ! ??

This photo of Nazaré (the largest wave in the world, pretty cool) has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I am headed to San Francisco today to take my best friend’s engagement photos and I could NOT BE MORE EXCITED.
