When your friend says he wants to do an Outlander themed dudoir session, you say “yes” without a second thought.

Funny enough, I had actually never seen the show prior to doing this session. But I decided to watch a few episodes for research purposes, and I was hooked.

This was such a fun photo session, and I couldn’t believe how perfect the location was.

This session was my Outlander origin story, and I will forever be grateful for the amazing introduction to the show.

Part 3 Countdown to the Outlander series finale — Fort William (i.e. Blackness Castle). If you’ve seen the show, you know that this stop on our castle tour required us to really separate the filming location from the events in the series that were filmed there. But once you’re able to do that, Blackness Castle is one of the coolest castles you can see.

It’s location on the water and you’re able to go inside and wander around almost the whole castle. They even had some games set up in one of the grand halls, and we spent some time playing those with the kids.

After we had wandered through every room, staircase, and castle wall, we ate at the cutest seaside restaurant right next to the castle.

I think this was the kids’ favorite stop on our mini driving tour, mostly because it was the only one that they were able to actually explore on the inside. The entire location is truly stunning, and I would go again in a heartbeat.

Day 2 Countdown to the Outlander series finale — Castle Leoch. This castle was such a fun stop on our driving tour. While we got there too late to go inside, we had the best time roaming the grounds. Seeing the kids frolic (and lay down in front of — see video) outside of this historic castle was just surreal.

Doune Castle (its real name) was also the castle used as Winterfell in Game of Thrones and made an appearance in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

10/10 recommend taking a driving tour around some of these sites if you’re ever in Edinburgh. Just make sure you have someone who is ok driving on the opposite side of the car on the opposite side of the road lol.

In honor of the Outlander series finale this week, here is Day 1 of my love for Scotland, this show, and the creativity that the two have brought to my life.

When we traveled to Scotland in 2024, I planned a day trip to visit several of the castles used in the show as well as the town (Culross) that was used as the town of Cranesmuir. All of the locations were stunning, but Lallybroch left me absolutely breathless.

Thank you to Midhope Castle for such a memorable visit. To be able to walk around, spend time soaking in the scenery, and sit on the steps was something I’ll never forget.

Some families and clients come in to our lives for reasons we can’t explain because they change us on such a foundational level.

This little guy is part of one of those families. What an honor it has been to watch him grow over these last two years. Thankful doesn’t begin to describe it.

After 80 years, this quilt that my great grandma started is finally complete. What an honor it was to be able to finish it with my mom and kids. Five generations touched this quilt, and I know my great grandma would be so happy knowing it was being used every day by her great and great great grand children.

I will never get over these film scans from this San Francisco wedding! We were outside taking some sunset photos, but when we turned around we saw the most GORGEOUS start to blue hour. We obviously had to stop and take more photos, and my goodness did they turn out even more stunning than I imagined when I snapped them.

That’s part of the beauty of film being a part of your wedding packages. There is an intentionality and mystery with film that only gets revealed after getting it developed. This is exactly why all of my wedding packages include film — I believe in my heart that it needs to be a part of your day’s story.
