Your camera gear will eventually wear out, but your skills? Those stay with you forever.

I just got back from Imaging USA, the annual conference hosted by the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), and it completely re-centered my focus on what it means to build a true legacy in this industry.

A lot of people think photography expos are just about geeking out over new gadgets. But Imaging USA is built for business-minded professionals. It’s a space where I get to connect directly with premier print labs, software innovators, and elite lighting teams to refine the exact tools that serve my clients.

But the biggest takeaway? It’s the education and community. Running a photography business can feel incredibly isolating, but standing alongside 10,000 peers reminds me of the power of our collective industry. I spent the week learning from vetted, top-tier professionals on how to streamline business management, elevate marketing strategies, and scale a sustainable brand.

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to reach some personal milestones at this event in the past, like competing as a finalist in the international photographic competition and walking the stage to receive my Master’s Degree. But the real victory is always the professional growth.

I like to compare what we do to car racing: you can buy the most expensive car parts in the world, but if you don't master the actual skill of driving, the gear won't save you. Especially in a world where AI is rapidly changing the landscape. Technology is an amazing tool, but it can never replicate the raw human connection between a photographer and a client. That is why I invest in my education, to ensure my standard of excellence remains unmatched.

The hustle behind the lens never stops. If you’re an event organizer or a parent who wants to work with a professional who constantly invests in their craft to deliver a 90+ standard gallery, let’s connect. Click the link in my bio to secure your spot for Dedicated Coverage this season!

Spider Holster: Is it fast enough for pro sports shooting? My honest review.

06/03/2026

Would you ever shoot sports at ISO 25,600? If you’re not a sports photographer, that number probably sounds crazy.

When the lights dip in a gym or out on a night field, your camera’s sensor faces a major technical choice. To get enough light to create an image, something has to give in the exposure triangle: shutter speed, aperture, or ISO.

When it comes to professional sports photography, my main priority is non-negotiable: getting tack-sharp images. That means I will always choose a high ISO over a slow shutter speed. Why? Because a sharp, fast-action image with a little bit of digital noise can easily be cleaned up with modern professional software in post-processing. But a blurry, smeared photo caused by a slow shutter speed? Absolutely nothing can fix that. I refuse to compromise on your athlete's key moments by dropping my shutter speed and just "hoping" for a clear shot.

Understanding how to balance these settings under intense low-light pressure is exactly what separates standard snapshots from professional action documentation.

Don't let bad venue lighting blur your athlete's hard-earned milestones. Click the link in my bio to secure your Dedicated Coverage and get crisp, high-end action images this season!

Team Coverage vs. Dedicated Athlete Coverage... what’s the actual difference, and which one does your athlete need this season?

I get asked all the time how my booking packages work. When you're looking to preserve your athlete's seasonal legacy, it really comes down to choosing the right style of documentation for your goals.

Here is the quick breakdown:

✔️ Team Coverage: This option is fantastic for coaches or teams who want a great overall narrative of the game. It focuses on the collective group energy, the big strategic plays, and the sideline action. While it documents the whole squad's journey, it doesn't guarantee that any single individual athlete will be heavily featured.

✔️ Dedicated Athlete Coverage: This is a fully focused, single-athlete session designed for families who want to guarantee their child’s specific story is told. I track your athlete exclusively throughout the entire event, from warmups to high-fives. This option is all about capturing their individual intensity, growth, and grit with personalized, emotion-filled photography. It’s sports storytelling at its finest.

No matter which route you choose, you are securing a systemized approach that eliminates blurry snapshots and delivers clean, professional imagery with a quick 48-hour turnaround.

"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity, but a masterpiece is what happens when technical mastery meets the split-second."

In the world of elite sports, the difference between a "good shot" and a visual masterpiece is measured in milliseconds. While many people think sports photography is about being lucky enough to be in the right place, I believe it’s about having a system that ensures you never miss.

To meet the "Split-Second Standard," you have to combine the drive of the athlete with the technical expertise of a Master. It’s about knowing exactly how to freeze a $100$mph fastball, capture the grit of a sliding tackle, or frame the raw emotion of a championship celebration before the blink of an eye. When technical mastery is your foundation, you don’t just hope for a great photo, you engineer it.

I’ve spent years refining my craft and pursuing my Master of Photography so that when your athlete has their defining moment, I am ready. We aren't just taking pictures; we are creating masterpieces that honor a lifetime of dedication.

Don't leave your athlete’s masterpiece to chance. Join the circle of families who demand a higher standard of documentation. Click the link in my bio to book your Dedicated Coverage for May and June!

When it comes to championships, there are no second chances, not for the athlete, and not for the photographer.

When the game is on the line and the pressure is at its peak, you can't just "reenact" the moment if it’s missed. This is exactly where professional expertise as a sports photographer becomes essential. While practice makes perfect, truly delivering in the "big leagues" is about more than just showing up; it’s about deep preparation, specialized knowledge, and a commitment to consistency regardless of the environment.

I have documented over 150 different events since 2023, and I have learned that you have to be able to perform under any circumstance, whether it's pouring down rain or a deafening crowd. My "Split-Second Standard" means having the right equipment that can handle the elements and the technical mastery to ensure that your athlete’s defining championship moment is captured with professional precision. When the stakes are highest, you need a specialist in your circle who remains as focused as the athletes on the field.

Don't leave your championship legacy to an unproven lens. Join the circle of elite families who trust a professional to deliver when it matters most.

31 miles of mud, muscle, and mountain air.

The Way Too Cool 50k is more than a race; it’s a testament to what the human spirit can endure.

I was out on the trails on March 7th to document the raw drive and dedication required to tackle one of the most iconic ultra-marathons in the country. From the misty morning start to the legendary frog cupcakes at the finish line, every mile of this course is steeped in a tradition of strength in unity and individual grit.

Capturing trail running at this level requires a unique standard of excellence. It isn’t just about the speed; it’s about the "unseen commitment" the heavy breathing on the climbs, the technical precision on the descents, and the unwavering resolve to keep moving forward when the legs get heavy. My goal was to ensure that every runner’s "Split-Second Standard" was captured against the stunning backdrop of the Sierra Foothills.

➡️ For Event Organizers: Your participants are doing something extraordinary. They deserve documentation that matches their effort. My professional coverage provides the "big league" feel your event earns, complete with instant photo downloads so runners can share their triumph while the mud is still fresh on their shoes.

Elevate your next race or trail event with professional documentation and instant downloads for every participant. Click the link in my bio to book me for your 2026 event calendar! 🏅

An event is more than just a race, it’s a living, breathing community in motion.

We were on-site to document the Seize the Moment Run, and while the athletes on the course brought incredible drive and dedication, the story of the day went far beyond the finish line. To truly capture the legacy of an event, you have to look at the full picture: the energy of the vendor village, the tireless work of the volunteers, the interaction of the sponsors, and the shared celebrations of the families in attendance.

My "Split-Second Standard" doesn't stop when the runners pass my lens. It extends to the handshake between partners, the laughter at the recovery tents, and the vibrant atmosphere that your team worked months to build. For event organizers, high-end documentation is your most valuable asset. It’s how you prove your ROI to sponsors, market to next year’s participants, and showcase the strength in unity that your brand represents.

By providing a professional, 90+ standard gallery that covers every corner of the venue, I ensure that the massive effort you put into planning is preserved with the quality it deserves.

➡️ For Event Organizers: Give your participants and partners the "big league" treatment. My coverage includes instant photo downloads, meaning your vendors and runners can share their branded moments across social media while the event is still trending.

Some of the best "action" shots I’ve ever taken don't actually have a ball in them.

As a Master of Photography, I believe that a true sports narrative is often found "where the ball isn’t." While most people are looking for the obvious play, I am hunting for the soul of the athlete, the tension in a goalie's hands as they anticipate a shot, the dirt flying behind a sprinter, or the raw reaction of a player who just missed a game-altering score.

Once the play is over, you don't stop looking for the photo. There are amazing narratives that happen right after the action, like the quiet moment of a player looking at the batting lineup or the emotional investment shown on the sidelines. These are the narratives that are part of their everyday lives and truly build an athlete's legacy. By using professional composition to expand the story beyond just the ball, we capture the heart of the hustle and the "unseen commitment" that defines your athlete’s journey.

Ready to capture the full story of your athlete’s season, from the peak action to the quiet moments in between? Join my circle of elite families who want more than just snapshots.

50 miles. Countless stories. One epic finish line. 👟

We were out on the trails to document the incredible energy of the American River 50, now the second-largest 50-miler in the United States. From the early morning start in the City of Folsom to the final climb into Auburn, the atmosphere was electric. This race is a true test of drive and dedication, attracting everyone from seasoned veterans to those tackling their very first ultra-marathon.

Whether participants were crushing the full 50, the 25-mile, or the 10-mile event, the strength in unity was on full display. Between the motivational signs and the legendary volunteers, every athlete pushed through the grind to earn those medallions and finishers' hoodies. Capturing the grit of a large-scale event requires a specialized vision to ensure every participant's story is told with a standard of excellence.

➡️ For Event Organizers: High-end documentation is the key to building your race's legacy and attracting future sponsors. If you are looking for professional coverage that handles the scale of thousands of athletes while capturing the individual heart of the race, my calendar is now open for upcoming events.

All professional photos from this weekend are available exclusively through the official race website. Planning your next big event? Click the link in my bio to book professional coverage that elevates your brand!
