In 2020, I invested in a Canon EOS Rebel T7 that came with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. But I was determined to do better and take this photography thing more seriously this time, so I also bought prime lenses: 50mm f/1.8 (the nifty fifty) and 85mm f/1.8. And what's the point of buying $1000 in gear when you don't have the knowledge to use them correctly? For weeks I watched countless YouTube and Skillshare videos and checked out every photography book from the public library. While I'm no expert, I believe my photos now vs the ones I took a decade ago are on different leagues altogether.

My first DSLR was a 10.2mp Sony α200 with the 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens from 2009. I really wanted something from the Canon EOS line but my mom bought me this instead because it was cheaper and I wasn't in the position to demand anything 😂 So this was my only camera body and lens for 11 years. She's served me well, although I could've spent more time and effort learning digital photography basics to produce the best results this kit could offer.

I didn't think I'd be able to squeeze in any shoots this month, but this adorable wee baby and her momma made it through last minute. 💝 She was so sweet and happy and curious, and didn't throw one tantrum! Definitely one of my favorite clients.

Hello, it's me! Your future photographer bestie. 🤗

During the weekend I semi-fulfilled my dream of photographing the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. 🌁 I say "semi" because I didn't get the shots I truly wanted.

When I got up to Battery Spencer, the light drizzle had turned into full on rain, so I was slowly getting drenched on the hike up. It was also ~40F; I could barely feel my fingers. 🥶 The rain was pelting my camera, my lens, and my bag, so I snapped what I could and shivered my way back down to the car.

But there's always a silver lining. At least now I know there's a small hike up, what the area looks like, and the best spot to shoot for NEXT TIME. And I'll be bringing a model, and we'll be ready.
