Interior designers often talk about sightlines. They're the natural path your eye travels when you enter or move through a room.

Most people never think about this consciously, but they feel it. Art placed directly in a sightline changes a room immediately.

A lot of people hold off on collecting art because they rent and feel uncertain about committing to walls they do not own. But art does not belong to a wall. It belongs to you.

Renting is not a reason to live with bare walls. It is a reason to collect work that matters enough to keep moving (and growing) with you.

Ripple Effect #2 - Chittenden, Vermont

I have always been drawn to abstract art. With some exceptions, I usually find that when I am permitted by the artist to only consider shapes, patterns, lines, colors and textures, my mind's eye is now freed from the bonds of asking “what is it?” and the experience shifts to “how do I feel?” and “do I like it?”

These abstracts are based in nature – that's pretty obvious. You should easily find the clues. You can almost not even call them abstract. But the subtle shifts of focus, and the play of light on familiar – yet somehow right now not so familiar – objects gives a very different experience than if the camera had locked focus on only the familiar and recognizable.
