The Carolina Nature Photographer's Association, Foothills South Region took a trip up to the Blue Ridge Parkway to try to get some milky way shots. Unfortunately, the clouds didn't cooperate so we weren't able to shoot the core. I was able to get some shots that I could analyze for future reference to reduce star trails and things like that. Another thing that was quite obvious was how much ground-level light is reflected by clouds. We were able to catch some early meteors from the Perseids meteor shower and some Starlink trains. The sunset was also quite nice before we started shooting stars. I set up two tripods, one with my digital SLR and one with my iPhone. I must say, I was quite impressed with my phone's performance. The details wasn't as good as the SLR, but still quite impressive.
