“ Soul Pho Stranger ”
Sat evening, no photo. Heading home from out of town, I made quick stop at grocery store & saw this long-bearded man returning his cart. He seemed Texas strong & Texas tender.
Something about him made me bold to ask if I could photograph him.
He briefly looked up at the sky then looked at me and said yes.
I ran to get my camera and snapped a few shots.
Then he asked: "you aren't going to harvest my soul, are you?"
I laughed. Usually, i have a quick wit about me but my tongue got tied.
I regret I didn't wink and say, 'maybe'.
I don't even know his name.
But maybe i don't need to
Maybe all i need to know is there is goodness in his soul.
