Today the Elbert Fire Protection District welcomed two brand new water tenders into their fleet. With combined efforts from both Fire Chief Brandon Homer as well as the Elbert Fire Board, the fire district was able to purchase these amazing looking water tenders. The trucks were specially built to accommodate for the district’s needs. Not only do they hold a lot of water, they can also be used to fight wildfires and structure fires if needed. Community members also enjoyed a cookout at the fire house. These two new trucks will be stationed at Fire House 231 (In the town of Elbert) and Fire House 233 (Western Elbert). Welcome Tender 230 and Tender 233!

Today I had the amazing opportunity to visit and tour the Genoa Fire Protection District . It was very cool to see their rigs and learn more about their district. Thank you GVFD for making this possible!!

Today, North Central Fire Protection District volunteers trained in structure fire operations at the old Bijou Church off of Ridge Rd. This gave members a chance to refresh their skills on fire attack duties, pumping, nursing from a tender and command. A new member of theres’ will be going through the fire academy very soon, so the training was also a good practice for that individual.

This training was very much a success and everyone learned something new! Plus, we got to come back and enjoy a nice lunch prepared for us by a fantastic group of visitors.

(NEWLY ACQUIRED) North Central Fire Protection District Tender 241

1986 International S1900 6x6 3000 Gallon water tender. Previously ran with Parker, South Metro and Rattlesnake Fire Districts before coming to North Central.

Just after 2:00 PM, on Tuesday January 27th 2026, South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a possible outside fire off of Snowbrush Lane in Highlands Ranch. Initial reports stated that there was fire outside of the residence and it was not threatening the home. A few minutes later, dispatch received a new update stating the fire had now spread to a nearby fence and was possibly spreading to the exterior wall of the home. Due to the updated radio report, the fire was upgraded to confirmed which brought a lot of extra firefighters and rigs to the scene. Within minutes of the first in crews arriving on scene, they had water on the fire and managed to have only a minor extension into the interior of the house. Crews transitioned into overhaul and responding units were picked up. No one was injured in this fire and the cause is still under investigation. All photos are on my smugmug:
