Just after 2:00 PM, on Tuesday January 27th 2026, South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a possible outside fire off of Snowbrush Lane in Highlands Ranch. Initial reports stated that there was fire outside of the residence and it was not threatening the home. A few minutes later, dispatch received a new update stating the fire had now spread to a nearby fence and was possibly spreading to the exterior wall of the home. Due to the updated radio report, the fire was upgraded to confirmed which brought a lot of extra firefighters and rigs to the scene. Within minutes of the first in crews arriving on scene, they had water on the fire and managed to have only a minor extension into the interior of the house. Crews transitioned into overhaul and responding units were picked up. No one was injured in this fire and the cause is still under investigation. All photos are on my smugmug:

Hello everyone!

I wanted to come on here to tell yall what’s been going on, and why there’s been an absence of content on this page.

In September, while I was documenting a North Central Fire training, I noticed my truck photo camera lens was starting to act out, which resulted in blurry photos. I did the photo shoot with Tri-County using my big lens and that was extremely difficult. Since then, I’ve been attempting to save money in order to pay for a new lens. Until i get the money fo a new lens, I’m not sure when content will be coming out. I will keep yall posted.

Stay safe everyone and happy holidays!

On Saturday 8/23/25, North Central Fire Protection District Volunteers trained on driving different apparatus. This gave members the opportunity to drive the bigger and heavier apparatus such as the larger Brush trucks and Water Tenders as these vehicles can be tough to operate without experience. It was an amazing training and crews learned a lot. Thanks NCFPD for hosting!

(NEW TRUCK) North Central Fire Protection District has officially put the new Brush 244 “Brutus” into service. This truck has lots of off-road capability for brush fires, front mounted turret, front mounted spray bars and a 2,000 Gallon Water Tank. This was a huge project for the department as they had to do a lot of work especially on the rear of the truck in order for it to become a brush. Welcome Brutus!

At 14:37 PM, July 14th 2025, Franktown Fire Protection District responded to reports of a building collapse near Highway 86 and Burning Tree Dr. Captain 183 and Safety 181 arrived on scene and found several buildings in the strip mall damaged due to a small tornado that went through the area a few minutes before the call came in. On 6/28/25, North Central Fire Protection District volunteers had the amazing opportunity to train on a live vehicle fire. Not only did this help the members learn how to properly and safely fight a car fire, but it also gave new members the chance to use their SCBA and get familiar with the department’s equipment. Thank you so much NCFPD for always letting me come out to these training sessions and to help tell your story. More pictures can be found by clicking this link

At 4:20 PM MDT, South Metro Fire Rescue along with West Metro Fire Rescue, West Douglas County Fire Protection District, Douglas County OEM and Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a brush fire off the Spring Gulch Trail near Trailblazer Elementary School in Highlands Ranch. When South Metro’s Battalion Chief 1 arrived on scene, they found a small, slow moving grass fire on the west end of the path. However, due to the proximity of nearby structures and the fire reaching the trees, the incident was upgraded to a “Large Brush Fire” which brought in more resources to help contain the fire. Crews worked on the ground to contain the fire the best they could and a Helicopter provided by Douglas County OEM made a water drop on the fire to help put it out. With efforts from both ground and air crews, the fire was officially put under control at 5:01 PM. The cause of this fire is under investigation.

Units on scene:

South Metro: Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Brush 16, Brush Engine 20, Brush Engine 40, Chief 14, Engine 15, Engine 17, Medic 13, Medic 18, Med 1, Safety 1

West Metro: District 3, Brush 13, Engine 3 (Cancelled while enroute)

West Douglas: Tender 132 (Cancelled while enroute)

Douglas County OEM: 5TA Helicopter, OEM 10, OEM 21
