Ok guys... here is the final update from the AMBER fire.
I was going to send this OVER an hour ago but got side tracked.
Fire is holding at a mapped acreage of 10 acres.
No containment has been reported.
Fire fighters are making immaculate progress.
It was reported that the hose lays are tied in.
Extensive mop up is required, but will be difficult due to the steep and sketchy terrain.
The fire has been boxed in with solid retardant lines.
It is hot as hell out there on steep steep terrain.
At last two fire fighters were treated at ICP for heat related illness. They appear to be ok.
When fighting fire in brutal terrain as such, in yriple digit heat carryinh 100+ punds of gear and fore house, and hand crews cutting and digging all day.. heat illness is very common and also expected. Fire fighters do everything right in terms of preparing to fight fire in such brutal conditions. Eat well the night before and the morning of. Round the clock hydration, excellent sleep patterns, rigorous and brutal daily physical training regiments etc however some times the body just says NOPE. So they are treated, cooled off hydrated and monitored and often times return back the line later that day
