Little rant here about something me and some of my fellow photographer girlies discuss from time to time. 😂📸
Can we normalize just being honest with photographers?
If you inquire about a session and change your mind, that’s okay.
If you decide to book with someone else, that’s okay too.
If something comes up and you can’t make the session work anymore, also completely okay.
Most photographers genuinely do not care who you choose to take your photos. There are SO many talented photographers out there, all with different styles, personalities, pricing, and experiences. We want you to choose the person who feels right for you.
What we DO care about is communication.
Please don’t repeatedly try to schedule, have us hold space in our calendar, go back and forth making plans, and then give an excuse or disappear when you’ve simply decided to go another direction.
You can literally just say, “Hey! I decided to go a different route, but thank you so much for your time!” And I promise, most of us are going to say, “No problem! I hope you love your photos!” ❤️
There are no hard feelings.
Our time matters, just like yours does.
So let’s normalize communicating with photographers, whether you’re ready to book, need to reschedule, decide not to book, or choose another photographer entirely.
You don’t owe us your business. But basic communication? That goes a long way. ❤️📸
Side note: If my photography or editing style isn’t what you’re looking for, please don’t ever feel awkward telling me that! I have absolutely no problem recommending some of my fellow photographer girlies whose work I think is amazing. ❤️ There is plenty of room for all of us, and ultimately I want you to end up with photos that YOU love.
Matter of fact, I’m going to drop a few photographers whose work I personally love in the comments. Different styles, different vibes, and some seriously talented women. 🫶🏼📸
