The Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes photography as "the art or process of producing images by the action of radiant energy and especially light on a surface." Although, this is a correct explanation of what photography is, it does't quite encapsulate what Je' Amou Photography represents. "Je' Amou" translates to the words "I love", and what we capture in a photograph is "amou" in its purest f
orm. No matter who you are, there is that special minute, for example when you first get out of the shower, when you just step out of the barber, or when you first put on them new clothes for the first time. The present is a gift worth cherishing. Give yourself the gift that will define your future, for you, your friends, family, and loved ones. A picture provides a lasting reminder of the feelings. Make an investment on your feelings because no moment can be duplicated but you can guarantee yourself an opportunity to see them again with a Je' Amou photo. What sparked your interest in photography? My photography love started with that, love. Every image which we see expresses a level of emotion which comes back to the most basic one of camaraderie, connection, and essentially a love of oneness with our environment and being. Photography is a part of me because it is everything I decide to show people, as I share my world. The spark of my interest was created as I started on an endeavor to keep a history of myself to show my future self the evidence of my love to my community, my team, my family. What's your biggest inspiration? My biggest inspiration for every image I create, click, innovate, is community. A photographer’s road can be a lonely journey with many pitfalls. Some photographers gravitate to compromising integrity. Some photographers lose their personal signature to “make it”! Then some photographers choose to value and support the life spring of photography. The community that you take pictures of should be the community that supports you.
-Esha Gupta said it well, “You need a strong family because at the end, they will love you and support you unconditionally. My life consists of a support from the fashion community. We are a bit dysfunctional but who are we to judge. You specialize in a variety of types of photography, but what interests you in fashion photography? My interest in fashion photography stems from needing a deeper understanding of my environment. The fashion of an individual determines there stature, standing, and overall well being. The need to vocalize all styles of fashion is one of my focal missions as I go through and record fashion. A good look can only be determined on your perspective. Too long has the times only provided a partial glimpse. I want a full picture. What makes a fashion photograph great? A fashion photograph must convey a topic, a message, and always, an emotion. The clarity, composition, and details only can take you only so far. It is your signature on each image which matters and makes things great. How engaged do you become if you notice your model is having a difficult time connecting with the camera? What kind of direction would you give them to help them along the way? This question is fairly loaded. If the model is in an amateur role, discussions will be had until the desired image is achieved. A professional model does not share that luxury. I am a pretty hands on type of individual with everything I do but if I am paying, I expect near perfection within reason. What has been your most memorable shoot? There was a moment where I changed the path in which my photography takes. Predominantly commissioned photographers are to deliver the product which the client requires and nothing further. This is to avoid any financial repercussion that may arise as a result. I decided that regardless of the time constraint I would add my flair to photography to the service requested. I was at a Women’s Empowerment Seminar. I do not expect clients to be aware of what will provide a great image. Why would I be employed? I was commissioned to provide event photography and I was going to but the inner artist in me battled. Long story short since I am a photographer, the image below became a battle cry for me. I like making statements out of the special things in life… Life is special lets make artwork out of it and smile in the process

How much equipment do you usually take with you to a shoot? Equipment can vary depending on event. A skilled photographer can usually make it by using one camera, one off camera flash, and one lens. I tend to carry two cameras two flashes and you guessed it, two lenses because I like to set one camera to a particular room and the alternate to another room. Now unless there are lighting issues this is what you will most likely find me with and my handy dandy light meter. It lets me know in an instant what kind of issues I will have in a room in regards to light. What's one piece of equipment that you can't work without? I have seen photographers complete work with broken cameras, broken lights, and even the lack of a proper location. Without ingenuity, resourcefulness, and some good old fashioned determination. My answer to this question is my brain. Wisdom can answer the unthinkable questions that life can set in your path. What's your unique about your work? It comes from the heart. My service is customer based meaning, satisfaction is a factor in my photography. What’s one important thing that prospective clients should know about you? The thing that I wish that all prospective clients to know about myself is my photography is not only a profession which allows me to support myself but a profession which I love.
