Pavlina Sanborn Photography

Pavlina Sanborn Photography Recently relocated from Florida to Washington - Pet Focused Creative Photography I have been working with troubled K9s for over 20 years.

I have met clients with some stunning characters by their side. All I ever wanted to have the ability to capture these characters forever. I have been fortunate to personally know some amazing artists around Massachusetts. When the idea about pet photography was born, all I ever wanted to help local rescues and shelters with higher adoption turnover. I could do that by volunteering my dog training

services along with pet photography services. Many of you out there (pets and humans) have touched my life in a special way, now it's time to return the favor...

Please contact me if you need my volunteer services for your shelter/rescue. I would gladly schedule time to meet your adoptables. "Saving lives one photo at a time..."

Meet Gidget- the Energizer Pup with a Cuddle Switch!

Don't let the size fool you-this 34.5 lb girl packs the power of three working breeds in one sleek, sporty frame. At just about a year old, Gidget is the ultimate mix of Belgian Malinois, Australian Cattle Dog, and German Shepherd... aka, your new teammate in life, love, and any dog sport you're willing to try.

Gidget isn't just cute (though yes, she is a total model). She's smart, eager to please, and already stacking up skills: sit, down, stay, spin, shake, rollover, AND she is just getting started with Disc Freestyle with the one and only Andrea Morrissette (we appreciate your time Dre!). Gidget is crate-trained, house-trained, car-trained, leash-savvy, and currently moonlighting as a Disc Dog in Training. Bonus: she's not picky about food - just about having a job.

This girl thrives on structure and loves to work for food or her disc. If left bored, she'll find her own entertainment (consider yourself warned). She's excitable when she waits for her turn to train and is happiest when she's got a mission - whether that's hiking, or learning new sports like herding, agility or scent work (listed to show her potential). Did I mention she likes water? Because yes - she's a splash enthusiast, too.

Dog compatibility? Gidget does best with male or neutral female dogs - pushy females are a no-go. She hasn't been tested with cats or kids yet. Grooming? Easy. Cuddling? Preferred. Routine? Suggested.

Fully vetted, spayed, and on heartworm/flea prevention. Gidget is ready to leave the streets of Cleveland, TX behind and find her forever teammate. She's looking for an active home - preferably a sport home or someone just diving into the world of dog sports. If you've got a disc (and a couch for snuggles after), Gidget's your girl.

Ready to meet the working girl with a heart of gold and a tail that doesn't quit? Gidget is waiting!

Note: Gidget's foster mom is our friend Tammey Warren (FB is not letting me tag Tammey, I will tag her in comments below). For any inquiries about Gidget, please direct them to Tammey. She's the expert on all things Gidget-related.

"You are not controlling the storm, and you are not lost in it. You are the storm..." --Sam Harris

The Texas storms are brewing in our area, bringing a welcome change of seasons. While Houston may only experience subtle shifts, it is still a refreshing change. I eagerly anticipate temperatures dropping below 100°F!

"You don't have to have it all figure out to move forward... Just take the next step."

Many of you can relate to the challenge of moving on after losing a beloved pet. I consider myself fortunate to have had two heart dogs in my lifetime. The emptiness in my heart and the void in my life are undeniable.

This page has been relatively quiet, with only a few clients, as I continue to grieve. The motivation to return to photography has not fully returned. I recognize the need to take some time to heal and possibly revisit the roots of this page.

Now that I have relocated and established some semblance of routine, I am hopeful that I will be able to share more photos soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Today, I remember the day that left a gaping hole in my heart. I have been consumed by grief in the past year. I try my best to focus on the beautiful moments and unconditional love my loyal Honey Bear brought into my life and find solace in cherishing those memories.
I miss your squishy face Honey Bear

Spectre 💚
My sweet puppy boy aged so much the last time you saw him. His IBD has been taking a toll on his body and his mind. We are doing really well managing his diet, exercise, and we even started back up his Flyball training. Sweet baby boy was crushing it in the disc events and he started to leap into the pool. Dock diving is his next adventure and he absolutely loves it! I am so excited to see what he decides to love next year. He has been such a fun boy to work with.

Our relocation was his first move with us and he has adjusted well. Part he didn't adjust so well was Honey Bear's passing. He loved to play with her and sleep beside her. You can see his grey hair in his face that he was struggling for a while. Vesper has been a tremendous help in his difficult adjustment. We all took time to adjust and move forward. We have a pretty good support system with each other. I am just hoping Spectre can continue to thrive and remain his happy self for years to come. We are keeping his flare ups at minimum since we moved. I am so proud to report that this little boy is a fighter and no IBD can bring him down. We are looking forward to getting back to Agility training as well.

Swipe for before and after photos.

Photo was taken against the side of the house. No location is perfect, but you can make the best by getting onto your dog's eye level and eliminating distractions. Keeping your subject far away from the background helps to blur the background and keep focus on your subject. Warm up your photo, add some sharpness to the subject and add a few vignettes to help the subject pop. Hope this helps a bit, when you take photos of your own pups this Holiday Season.

Hi there wonderful fans ❤

It has been a long time since I posted any photos or updates. So much has happened, and grief is a really funny thing... Some of you know that we were in the process of relocating to yet another state. We enjoyed our time in WA and our next journey took us to sunny Houston TX. Things have changed drastically as we had to say our goodbyes to my best girl Honey Bear. She gained her angel wings in June and later on our kitty Elsie as well.

My whole world shattered when we lost Honey Bear on our vacation to TX. It was sudden, so fast and there was no time to properly take a breath or grieve my girl. It was just too much too soon. I have been in a daze not able to do what I love the most. I slowly returned to dog sports with my pups but wasn't able to take photos. I am making my way back slowly. If you enjoy pet photos, please stick around. I promise to slowly come back and share my gift with you. I promise to continue posting before and after photos for educational purposes. I appreciate you all sticking with me through this uneasy process of picking myself up to keep going. If you have ever moved every few years, you know that itself is a lot. You start over each time and make the best of it, but losing your beloved pet adds more to the stress of starting over. We all deal in different ways...

If you need it, I am sending you a BIG HUG. I am glad you are here and hope you enjoy my work. I am looking forward to meeting new clients in 2024 and attending many sporting events with my pups. If you see me, shout at me and say Hi!

Have a wonderful Holidays with your loved ones!

Happiest 2nd Birthday to Vesper 🥳🥳

Vespie is the happiest, bounciest, and curious pup! She is my little sunshine with the right amount of hurricane. Spectre's recovery has been fast thanks to Vesper. She is eager to learn new things and try anything I ask of her. She has new Agility titles to add to her name but I was never in a hurry to make her grow up. She is everything we need to keep our household balanced and active. Words won't describe how much I love this crazy pup!

Best Birthday to my pretty girl and her siblings 💜

We celebrated our day with some Agility practice, long fun walk in the woods, and nose work class to end her day. All favorite activities of our crazy girl.

Thank you Carla and Tara for matching our home with the best baby girl!

Say What❓❓

Few of us photographers got together to get a small monthly challenge going. It's not much, but since our lives keep us busy, we try to challenge ourselves. For the month of February, we have chosen theme: Say What?

Take a look at few other photographers and their interpretations.

Detail 🧐

My friend photographer Jarka of Paw Print Memories Photography and I decided to have a topic each month. Life gets busy and neither of us has much time for photography these days. So, we decided to challenge ourselves at least once a month.

Of course, we are running a few days late for January but late is better than never. Make sure to check Jarka's page for her interpretation.

Have a great weekend!

I faced my fears!
My friend Cassie has these cuties and I have learned how to properly handle and photograph snakes. I have been so scared, but some of those cuties were so sweet. You can tell a good breeder; those snakes are so well socialized.

It was so much fun. Make sure you check out her page at

Enjoy!
