September has made it clear that it’s preparing for winter. Union Pacific has taken steps to ready their snow equipment — this is a good time of year to watch the east side of the yard by the Roseville depot.

Amtrak 6 under solo power 206, arrives in Roseville, CA for a rescue from UP5197, a SD70M unit. The onboard conductor meets the operator crew to shove the rescue unit out from the roundhouse track onto main track 1 before they depart east to Colorado. There was no shortage of complications, and everyone worked well together to make this departure happen.
