Birthdays have a way of making us reflect. At this point I feel like I’ve lived several different lives- being a kid, cheerleader days in high school, the most blessed college experience anyone could ask for and friends that I’ve kept for decades, traveling the world and enjoying the freedom of being single, working hard in grad school and becoming a therapist, counseling kids and families for over a decade, taking a leap of faith and switching careers because this one with people and creativity and sunsets is truly so good for my soul, getting married, the miracle of becoming a mom against the odds according to doctors, and here now as wife, mom, business owner, and my newest title-homeschool teacher. It is truly wild the way life unfolds and in all of the beauty and joy there are always also seasons of pain, waiting, loneliness, and many variations of struggle, but if I have been learning one thing more deeply lately, it is to enjoy just how good all of the moments are that I’m in right now. My anchor through every season has been the steadiness and solid foundation of my Jesus. Even after all of the life I have lived He is still patient with me and my heart, teaching me more every day how to let go of control and live more freely in surrender, how to transform my mind with truth, how to appreciate the goodness of everyday and every chance to be a light to anyone around me. So today I’m grateful for another year, and hopeful to continue learning to rest in Him in every season, praising Him moment by moment for all of the everyday blessings, big and small. “In the joy and in the pain, in the sun and in the rain, every breath gonna bless your name, here’s my everyday hallelujah.”
