Today is this special little man’s 1st birthday! Someday I will share more of his birth story — and BOY, what a story indeed! 😅

I will never forget being in that room the moment he was born. The emotional rollercoaster that everyone was on as we waited to see what would happen. But more than anything, the strength of his fierce mama who surrendered and trusted her God and her body. It was truly incredible and so incredibly special to be apart of capturing this birth story. 🤍

I’m telling you - I love photos. I love what they can capture and the feelings they can evoke. But films will forever have my heart. They always have. Even as a kid I always loved watching our home videos growing up.

A new baby coming, a birthday, Mothers or Father’s Day...you don’t really need a special occasion. All we need is a list of your favorite moments that you never want to forget, and let’s make some magic with your family for you to have to look back on forever! 🤍

Been in my feels lately thinking about babies and that incredible season of my life. Real real BIG feels. Like, if I’m being completely honest, I broke down hard just writing this caption, and pretty much do every time I think about this season of life coming to a hard close.

It’s a part of life that I’m not quite sure can ever be summed up in words. A true blessing in my life that I couldn’t have ever even dreamed of how amazing it could have been and how much I would fall in love with it. That season of life changed me fully and completely and made me the person I am today.

How do you close a chapter of life that guts you everytime you think about closing the door?

Soooo, that’s where I’m at with that. 😂

And all I had originally come here to say about this series of photos is, “Babies don’t keep, and that is a travesty.” I should have just left it at that. 😂

Toddlers be toddlering. Let them run the show. During our session I follow their lead. The sass, the meltdowns, the incessant need for water and snacks, the shy, the crazy — I’m here for all of it!

Paige’s Birth - Part 3:

At 7:45pm they checked her and she was only at 4cm, which I know was pretty discouraging for her having been laboring all day and her feeling like she had to be getting close to pushing. Her Midwife, Christie , reminded her that numbers don’t mean much in labor and that things can change fast.

Around 8pm, Christie suggested we turn out the lights and all leave the room to give her space to re-center and let her body do her thing in peace. Wasn’t too long after, around 9:30pm, things started to really pick up for her as she began to become more vocal. Her team joined her and she quickly made her way to the birth tub for some relief.

She was in the tub for less than 45minutes before baby came flying out! And I think mom was so overwhelmed with emotion that she almost forgot to check the gender! A minute or so after birth Dad had to ask what gender baby was as they had waited to find out! Their other kids quickly joined them as they all welcomed their new baby brother, Ollie. 💙

Paige’s Birth - Part 2:

Around 6pm Paige texted her birth team that contractions were picking up and getting stronger. By 6:30pm she was ready for her team to join her. (Thankfully, I was already on my way!)

Walking in to her bedroom, her oldest son was right by her side, holding her hand and tracking her contractions for her. It was by far the sweetest thing to witnes how attentive and supportive he was of his mom, even at such a young age.

She was also surrounded by her two daughters, her husband and her sister. Eveyone offering her gentle touches and support as she continued to labor into the evening.

Paige’s Birth - Part 1:

June 18th, 2024 - I received a text from Paige at 5:40am saying her waters had broken but contractions hadn’t started up yet. A little after 7am I checked back in with her asking how she was feeling and she responded that she was at her kids SWIM PRACTICE! If that’s not a 4th time mom response, I don’t know what is!

Around 1pm I happened to be not too far from her so I asked her if she would like me to come document some of her early labor. She of course said, “yes!”. When I arrived she was preparing the bed with extra sheets and going over her check list. Then her and hubby and their pup, Wilber, went on a walk to help keep moving baby down!

Those first moments after...

It kind of feels like time stops for a bit. As you start to come back to earth and start to “come to” and slowly realize this is real life — all the waiting is over. Your baby is really here. 🖤

I don’t know that there is anything else on earth that compares to that feeling.

We’ve finally reached the end of this maternity session series and I just can’t get over how adorable these two are together. It’s been even more fun getting to watch them become parents. I love getting to connect with new families and document these precious seasons of life!

After seeing their in-home maternity session - who wishes and/or is wanting to do an in-home maternity session next time?! 😍🙋🏻‍♀️
