🏆 A Little Red Takes Best of Show!

Well… I’m still trying to wrap my head around this one. ❤️

Today, my collection “A Little Red” was exhibited at the Morgan County Art Expo, and somehow, this little collection of photographs came home with BEST OF SHOW! 🏆

There was an incredible amount of amazing artwork at the expo, including some truly fantastic photography. That makes this award mean even more to me. To have A Little Red stand out among all of that incredible work is something I’m incredibly proud of.

But honestly, one of the best parts of the day wasn’t even the award.

It was getting to talk with so many people who stopped to look at the series, hearing their thoughts, answering questions, and listening to people rave about the photographs and tell me what they saw and felt when they looked at them.
That kind of reaction is something you just can't put a price on.

A Little Red started as an idea that I wasn't even sure would work. I simply started noticing all of the little bits of red that surround us every day and wondered what would happen if I stripped everything else away.

Today, that idea took home Best of Show.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to stop, look, talk to me, and share their thoughts. And to everyone involved in putting together the Morgan County Art Expo, thank you for giving local artists a place to share what we create.

Thank you all. This one means a lot. ❤️

And yes… I think A Little Red just earned itself a little more wall space. 😉📸

A Little Red | First Public Showing

Something pretty exciting is happening this weekend, and I’d love to see some familiar faces there!

I’m going to be exhibiting a series of my photographs called “A Little Red” at the upcoming local Morgan County Art Expo. This will be the first time this collection of work has ever been shown publicly, and I’m really excited to finally let people see the series as a whole.

The idea behind A Little Red started with something simple: red is everywhere. A stop sign, a fire hydrant, a barn, a brake light, a flower… little pieces of red hiding in the world around us.

I photograph these scenes in color and then strip away everything except the red, turning the rest of the image into black and white. The result is a collection that makes you stop and look at ordinary things just a little differently.

The entire “A Little Red” series will also be available for purchase after the exhibit if you are interested.

The exhibit is only open to the public for a short time, so if you possibly can, please stop by and check it out! There will be a lot of great local artwork on display, and I’d genuinely love to hear what you think of "A Little Red".

And if you do make it there, come find my work and let me know what you think! I’m putting a little piece of myself into this series, so seeing people experience it for the first time means a lot to me.

One thing our trip to Costa Rica reminded me of is this...

Photographers never really take a vacation from photography.

Whether I'm standing in a rainforest waiting for a monkey to peek out from behind the leaves or working with a family at sunset, I'm always looking for that moment. The genuine smile. The perfect light. The split second that tells a story.

Capturing the beauty of Costa Rica was an incredible experience, but there's something even more rewarding about creating images that become part of someone else's family history.

So now that I'm back home, it's time to get back to doing what I love right here in our community.

We're back from Costa Rica! 🇨🇷

As much as we already miss waking up in paradise, it's time to get back to doing what I love most... creating beautiful photographs and lasting memories for all of my amazing clients here at home.

Costa Rica was absolutely breathtaking, from its incredible wildlife to its stunning landscapes. Over the coming days and weeks, I'll be sharing some of my favorite images from our adventure. These are just three of the many photos I captured while exploring this amazing country!

Now it's time to trade tropical jungles for portrait sessions! 📸
