my baby blanket was one that featured a pattern of baby animals... and it felt like foreshadowing, because the thing that has held my fascination most since childhood was animals and just the natural world as a whole. and if i have it my way, i'd like to photograph as much of it as i'm able to. at the moment i use a canon eos rebel t6 with two basic zoom lenses, and i have a UV, ND, and polarizing

filter at my disposal. i edit almost solely in lightroom, but will sometimes do more tweaking in photoshop.

wishing everyone a joyous beltane! it's getting too damn hot for me, but i hope y'all summer lovers are getting ready for your time of the year. 👀 got any summer plans? anything you love to do in summertime that doesn't involve going outside and melting into a puddle? 😅

meet hannibal, the komodo dragon of the greensboro science center! he turned seven this past december, so not a mature adult yet, which was indicated to me by his size. he was the first animal i saw during my visit last month, and i thought this guy was so cool! i've always loved komodo dragons; i still remember watching people like steve irwin teach me about them as a child, sitting attentively at the TV with animal planet on. 🦎

more photos from this visit, as well as the NC zoo, to come later! excited to share more of the shots i got. (:

wishing you all a happy, healthy ostara (for my northern hemisphere folks, at least)!

for me, spring is generally the time of year i start feeling worse due to my allergies and heat intolerance, but i do find a lot of joy in flowers and wildlife being easier to find (i'm quite happy to be already seeing spiders weaving webs along my front porch again!). last year we had to cut down a lot of our trees/bushes due to them being diseased, so i'm sad i'll be missing my yard azaleas this year. but, at least they're growing back!

this is from a rose bouquet my boyfriend gifted me for my birthday last month. roses are one of my favorite flowers, and this was one of my favorite bouquets he's ever gifted me. :') my partner really is my key enabler for me photographing flowers these days, lol.

Fun fact! Watersnakes are notorious for having an anticoagulant in their saliva; this makes a bite bleed more than it normally would, and this makes watersnake bites look worse than they are. They are entirely harmless to humans. The red-bellied is my favorite of our watersnakes because of how vibrant their undersides can be, and I'd love to see one in the wild one day.

A stunning emerald tree boa from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences that I visited recently! I was STOKED to see snakes and, for the first time in my life, fossils. Endless thanks to my boyfriend for pushing me around in a wheelchair when I needed it, because otherwise this trip wouldn't have been possible. I had so, so much fun. Anticipate (hopefully) one more snake photo from my visit!

A shot taken in November of last year outside a country club. This was an exercise of getting back into photography, because it's... been a hot minute, which I deeply apologize for. I have not given up on my dreams of pursuing photography as a career. I hope you enjoy and that you see more from me in 2025.

Endless thanks to a family friend for welcoming me into the stable to photograph her horses! This was a super fun experience, especially as someone who wants to specialize in animals but hasn't had much opportunity to photograph them. Thank you again!

A crape myrtle flower, taken post-thunderstorm. I like these flowers a lot, they look super unique to me and I loved the symmetry of this angle specifically.
