Tonight’s lunar eclipse at maximum. This is a stack of a 15-second video captured with the new ZWO SeeStar S50 Pro. I’ll be posting a detailed review of my experience with it soon. More to come.

I pointed my astro-imaging rig at a random area of the night sky in the constellation Cygnus for just over 20 hours and this is what I got. Cygnus is filthy rich with hydrogen nebulosity and some oxygen III so there’s plenty of areas of dense gas clouds to image. This particular patch is several times larger than a full moon from our POV, thousands of light years away from Earth. My camera, filter wheel, and mount are from ZWO (ASI294-MM Pro, EFW, AM5, respectively) and the telescope is a ZenithStar 61 II by William Optics.

Revisiting an old friend. This is a wide field view of the Elephant's Trunk Nebula in the constellation Cepheus, about 2,400 light years away from us. I captured this using my equipment hosted at StarFront Observatories‬. I've been going through a recent rash of misfortunes in my astro-imaging journey, but things seem to be finally looking up! Speaking of which, remember to do just that every now and then. Clear skies!

At 6:35 PM ET April 1, 2026, an international crew of four astronauts lifted off into space, kicking off the first crewed lunar mission since Apollo 17 in 1972. The crew's going on a 10-day roundtrip to the moon for a flyby to test the Orion capsule's safety, performance, and life support systems. After this, the third mission of the Artemis program (Artemis III) will test Orion's docking capabilities with commercial spacecraft in low Earth orbit in 2027, Then, Artemis IV in 2028 sends a crew back to the moon to descend to the surface and spend about a week near the South Pole before returning home.

Here’s my 2026 image of the Rosette Nebula in the constellation Monoceros. It’s about 5,000 light years away from Earth and measures about 130 light years across. Total integration time was about 31.5 hours.

Here’s my 2026 image of the California Nebula in the constellation Perseus. It’s about 1,000 light years away from Earth, and if it were bright enough to see with the unaided eye, it would be as long as FIVE full moons. My telescope’s focal length is too long to capture all of the California Nebula in one frame, so I had to capture it in 2 panels and stitch them together. This image was captured using my own equipment remotely, which is located at StarFront Observatories in central Texas.

These are the famous Horsehead Nebula and Orion Nebula, a dream shot since 2020 that finally materialized into this breathtaking image. This 3-panel mosaic covers an area of the night sky six times larger than a full moon, made up of 279 individual shots taken over 35 days, totaling 46.5 hours of exposure time. The nebulae are about 1300 light years away from Earth.
