While looking back at January 2025 snow photos, I came across this photo that seemed post-worthy. A little sparrow is utilizing the unmowed area, which I leave untouched for the benefit of the birds.

This scene is filled with action. A Barred owl has caught a chipmunk, holding it tightly in its talons. Blue Jays are infamous for their aggressive behavior towards owls, often flying at and dive-bombing them, as the bluejay in the right corner has just demonstrated, causing a reaction from the owl. Songbirds and crows also regularly pester owls. However, my shutter speed was insufficient to freeze the blue Jay's motion, leaving it slightly out of focus.

I think this is a Dunlin? He has lost one leg you can see the stub hanging down but he was getting around pretty good and would use his bill as a crutch by striking it on the ground and hoping on the one leg .
