🚨 EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY 🚨
As a photographer and a mother, I have made the decision that I will no longer publicly post identifiable images of children on my photography social media pages.
This is not a decision I made lightly.
Technology is changing rapidly, and with the continued advancement of AI and the growing concerns surrounding the misuse and manipulation of children's images, I feel a responsibility to do everything I can to protect the children and families who trust me with their memories.
Moving forward, I will not use identifiable images of children for public marketing or promotion.
This means that over time, you may see my photography pages changing. I will be gradually going through years of previously shared content and removing or archiving publicly posted identifiable images of children.
Because I have been photographing families and documenting memories for many years, this will not happen overnight. It is a process that will take time, but it is something I feel strongly about and am committed to doing.
Parents will still receive their beautiful galleries and photographs. This decision is about what I choose to publicly share and use for my photography business.
And honestly? I'm going back old school.
I'm going back to a time when a photographer's work was shared through word of mouth. When someone booked you because their friend told them about you. When they saw your photographs hanging on their friend's walls, flipping through a photo album, or proudly displayed throughout their home and thought:
"I want photos like that."
Before social media, photography businesses grew because people loved their experience and loved their photographs enough to tell others about them. I believe there is something really special about getting back to that.
Will this affect my business? Possibly.
But the safety, privacy, and digital footprint of the children I photograph will always be more important to me than social media engagement, marketing, or growing my business.
As photographers and parents, we are navigating a world that is changing faster than ever before. I don't have all the answers, but I do know that I want to make decisions that I can stand behind and feel confident about.
The children and families who trust me behind my camera will always come before my business.
