Well… it’s been a tough couple of months. I haven’t really been out exploring, shooting, or putting time into photography like I love to. Most of my energy has gone into paid work, and honestly, my mind’s been all over the place.

I lost my dad recently, and I’ve been focused on taking care of my family. Life’s been heavy. But at the same time, we’re getting ready to welcome my son on April 7th—so there’s a lot of emotion in every direction right now.

Today, though, I finally got back out there. I spent some time shooting at Quirky Birds Coffee Bar with an awesome model, Jalen Franks. I’ve always loved that little phone booth setup they have—it’s such a cool spot. And being back behind the camera, even for a bit, felt really good.

It’s a small step, but it’s a step toward getting back into what I love.

Who’s going to the hummingbird festival tomorrow?

Almost 3 years ago, I picked up my camera and started chasing hummingbirds. That little passion is what ultimately inspired the hummingbird in the Allenger Photography logo.

It’s that time of year again—our beautiful friends are back, zipping around and gearing up for their big trip. I spent about 30 minutes outside today and managed to capture just one photo I really loved.

I’m still chasing the shot—the one that feels like everything I’ve been waiting for. Haven’t gotten it yet, but I know one day I will. Until then, I’ll keep showing up, camera in hand, doing what I love.
