16 YEARS of living a healthy and normal life. Everything I am today is Thanks to God and because my brother Victor said Yes with no hesitation.
My entire life, he has been my protector, my best friend, and my bodyguard.
Here’s my testimony:
Why am I smiling so big?
Because I received a second chance at life that I didn’t deserve.
Because I know what it’s like to be connected to a dialysis machine just to see another day.
Because I know what it’s like to wake up feeling like your body is shutting down.
Because I understand that LIFE is a privilege, not a guarantee, and I don’t take a single day for granted.
At 25 years old, I went into complete kidney failure. Doctors told me I would be placed on the kidney donor list, but until then I would need dialysis three times a week, four hours at a time, just to stay alive.
That became my new reality.
BUT GOD.
Against the recommendations of doctors, my brother got tested because he was determined to help me live again.
On June 10, 2010, he donated one of his kidneys to me.
BUT GOD.
The surgery was a complete success. The moment they connected that kidney, it began working. The doctors couldn’t explain it. They said it was as if I had been born with it.
Over the last 16 years, God has restored my life in ways only He could.
He has blessed me with a beautiful family, a loving husband, a daughter, a career I love, and countless opportunities I once thought I would never have.
I am forever grateful to my brother, whom God has used as an instrument throughout my life. He has guided me, protected me, encouraged me, and walked me down the aisle to the love of my life.
What makes his sacrifice even more incredible is that he made this decision knowing the risks. He is a husband, a father to his triplet boys, and yet he chose to put my life before his own fears.
He listened to that still, small voice of God and said “yes.”
His faith was greater than his fear.
It was one of the most selfless acts of love I have ever witnessed.
Victor, words will never fully express my eternal gratitude. I love forever and always !
