Over 20 years ago, I purchased the Canon EOS 20D camera. It was 8.4MP, and could use Canon's EF lenses. This was a big deal as my father had a ton of Canon EOS lenses, filters, and accessories from his film camera. I purchased this camera for a trip to Easter Island, but little did I know it would jump start my long-term hobby of photography.

While cleaning out some old stuff, I came across some CD-Rs of my photo backups from 2006. These backups contained the raw CR2 files from my old Canon. One folder contained photos from a trip out to Boars Tusk North of Rock Springs.

I decided to revisit these photos, and re-composite and edit one of the bracketed shots. Using methods I learned along the way, I applied my modern knowledge to edit this photo.

This photo was taken with the Canon EOS 20D, kit EF 18-55 lens, fish-eye adapter added, F6.3, 1/20sec - 1/4sec.

My family attended the last Rock Springs Grizzlies Game of the Season last night. We are friends with #19, Charlie Kranglin, and his billet family. I took hundreds of shots, but these are the ones I am happy with.

Feel free to tag players and their families, and share as much as you like. If you would like copies without a water mark, let me know, and I'll send you a link. I just ask that if you post on social media that you tag this page and use the watermarked versions.

Enjoy!

This sunrise of the Tetons is a re-edit from the original raw file. Again, using techniques today that I didn't use back in 2010, this new photo has better tonal range and color accuracy. The composition is also slightly different.

Taken with a Canon EOS 5D, 40mm (24-105mm lens), f22, 1/8sec, ISO100. The shot was also bracketed, and another image was used to bring out more detail in the foreground.

This is a photo that I never considered editing. The original raw files didn't appear to be great exposures, but I fortunately took several bracketed shots and used stacking techniques today that I didn't use back when this image was captured.

This scene is challenging to shoot because of the extreme amount of contrast between the sunlit background and the shaded waterfall. Even though I used Photoshop to process this image, I used many darkroom tricks to balance the details in the shadows and the highlights.

While I can't remember the exact spot where this waterfall is located, I do remember it was on the West side of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. This was taken in June of 2008 with my Canon EOS 5D.

Enjoy!

I am going through some of my old raw images and applying new techniques and compositions. Kind of cool to re-visit some locations in a way.

This image is of a boulder next to Deep Lake in the Wind River Mountain Range. I captured it in September 2010 with a Canon EOS 5D.

My son and I drove North of Rock Springs to capture the Comet Tsuchinshan–ATLAS.

These photos were captured with my Canon EOS 5DSR, standard 24-105mm lens. Various exposures ranging from 3-15sec, F8-11, ISO3200-6400. Bracketing was used on some shots, and then stacked in Photoshop to bring out more detail in the landscape.

Enjoy!

Aurora Borealis, May 11, 2024

When setting up my camera, I couldn't really find anything else for the foreground, so I used our car. 😃

Taken from Middle Baxter near the Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport. You can see the airport glow on the horizon.

Taken with my Canon EOS 5DSR, 24mm, 30sec exposures, f5.6, ISO1600, 4 images stacked to get more detail of the Tesla.
